Thought I would get in early for 2006 - as I'm sure there will be a few similar posts. Sorry to have missed the London lunch (and for being so quiet this year). Did anyone get in the vintage Krug. If they did, I want their tip for 2006 (since they obviously know a thing or two).

IMHO the mining and oil stocks will continue to dominate the equity markets in 2006. For miners I like the look of BHP at the top end and Griffin, Tanzanite one, Golden Prospect and Galahad at the smaller end. For oils I am sticking with Burren and Dana (med caps) and Victoria, Emerald and Oilexco at the smaller end.

Internationally I go South America and India.

But I think 2006 may not be great for equities and I think the real action will be in commodities. Gold, silver, lead, zinc, palladium and the agriculturals are looking interesting too - sugar, oats - maybe even wheat, and soyabean (been reading Jim Rogers lately)! Never a finer time to open a spreadbetting account and get in on the action IMHO.

If the US hits recession I am ready to short everything that moves.

Have a great 2006 everybody - i'll be at the London lunch next year - thats a threat!

Sold WLF yesterday although to-day there isa buy out from City Group with target price of 416p, Where they derive that figure from with its forecasts I don't know.

I agree the trend is your friend until IT ENDS. I still feel a little to jumpy about this share and think there will be a slight correction after its recent soaring price.

In the meanwhile replaced it with Amlin.

IMO this one has only just started it's run up for 2006 as the city boys I chat to think it has stengthened its prospects a lot with the acquisition of Nettbanx and holders only have to wait for the figures to light the blue touch paper! I'm holding and wish I could afford a few more!!

NLR approaching it's high--trading update next week I think.

VED dropped on Friday and again to-day early on about 6% down, Partially due to market drop and partially due to statement of financing future development. I think over done re-bought early this am about 994p. Expect it to wander a little before returning to Trend up.

May be. But check the news and accounts for the last ten years and see how many times it has promised or just look at its graphs.

Just had a look at the charts. Better than I thought. I did make a fair bit on TFC before selling at about 500p. But has only showed a profit about 3 years in in 14. When it shows a profit it will be interesting again.

BGF and GFM are both miners on my portfolio. Anyone else hold these or maybe have sold now?
