Israeli Gaza conflict?????? (GAZA)

Fred1new - 06 Jan 2009 19:21

Will this increase or decrease the likelihood of terrorist actions in America, Europe and the rest of the world?

If you were a member of a family murdered in this conflict, would you be seeking revenge?

Should Tzipi Livni and Ehud Olmert, be tried for war crimes if or when this conflict comes to an end?

What will the price of oil be in 4 weeks time?

Fred, you are just so patronising. But what do I care.

Some things never change MM.

Fred1new - 03 Feb 2011 09:09 - 4209 of 6906

N,

Are you quibbling again?

But I don't believe in an absolute values, on perfect "ideals", or absolute morality.

Was confused 40 years ago when first discussed such, and remain so.

Will come back, but my router and net work have been giving me trouble.

Not sure why at the moment.

Have a good day.

All I know is that I hope Egypt does not end in a civil war and hope for a moderate "government" replaces its present ruling "body".

My wife's family suffered for generations from the family splits, which occurred after a civil war.

cynic - 03 Feb 2011 09:54 - 4211 of 6906

didn't know you could trace your family back to 17th century ..... i think civil war in egypt is unlikely, unless fomented by the external backers of fundamentalism ..... however, "moderate" is also questionable ..... my bet is that the army will effectively "elect" someone to act at their behest

Fred1new - 03 Feb 2011 10:44 - 4212 of 6906

My wife can. I haven't bothered to, as I know who I am. 8-)

Unfortunately, without the obvious political leaders and "representative" groups, there will be a political vacuum and it seems probable that the many be a "temporary" military government.

Do you mean by "external backers of fundamentalism" the American Zionist lobbies who back Zionist Fundamentalism in Israel.

cynic - 03 Feb 2011 11:28 - 4213 of 6906

arsehole! ..... try islamic extremists of which there is already a sizeable caucus in egypt

In The Land of the B - 03 Feb 2011 12:10 - 4214 of 6906

cynic,
Don't let freddie few brains wind you up. His attitude and that of the parrot on his shoulder is the last refuge of the intellectually biased and mentally challenged.
They know they are anuses, but it's anything to crave attention.......

cynic - 03 Feb 2011 12:30 - 4215 of 6906

he doesn't .... suspect his comment may have been intentionally silly anyway

Fred1new - 03 Feb 2011 13:28 - 4216 of 6906

Cynic, Thank you for your thought.

I wonder what the various Israeli embassies were up to over the last 10 days.

cynic - 03 Feb 2011 13:29 - 4217 of 6906

playing golf!

yuff - 03 Feb 2011 18:35 - 4218 of 6906

If this is what the Egyptians do to each other, what chance would Israel have if the Arabs ever got a foorhold??

Savages and its all played out in front of the worlds media.

Fred1new - 03 Feb 2011 18:47 - 4219 of 6906

Yuff.

Are you referring to the phosphorus bombing of Gaza?

Fred1new - 03 Feb 2011 18:53 - 4220 of 6906

Perhaps, it is the friends of Hosni defending him. I believe Mubarak is said to be a good friend of the Israeli leadership.

The anti Mubarak demonstration for 3-4 days was relatively good natured until the Pro-Mubarak thugs arrived.

Haystack - 03 Feb 2011 19:03 - 4221 of 6906

The savages in Egypt seem to be the paid thugs on the President's side and the police. The pro decmocracy protestors were not being violent prior to their attack yesterday and are just defending themselves.

When the anti president protestors catch one of the thugs they are intrerrogating them and taking their IDs' and keeping them in a a makeshift jail. In Egypt you have to carry an ID.

The interesting thing is that the very same ID's that were previously used by the police to round up dissenters has been their undoing. The IDs have a section that specifies the holders profession. Of course the thugs have IDs that say POLICE and the protestors are shoing off big bundled of these!

cynic - 03 Feb 2011 22:00 - 4222 of 6906

what a grim, bleak and dispiriting programme

sniffer - 04 Feb 2011 07:17 - 4223 of 6906

I take it you are referring to Theroux.

A pox on all religions. How belief in a sky fairy can lead to such atrocities(on both sides) baffles me.

mnamreh - 04 Feb 2011 07:26 - 4224 of 6906

cynic - 04 Feb 2011 08:07 - 4225 of 6906

theroux is a very clever commentator for as much as anything, he allows the story to unfold and the people to speak for themselves with minimal interference ...... i accept that this was a microcosm based on some deeply radical zealots, but assuming you watched the programme, what parts gave you reason for hope or even common sense to prevail?
