When International Humanitarian Agencies condemn Israels actions I tend to respect their opinions, unlike some of the rants on this thread!

Fred - International Humanitarian Agencies always condemn when there is conflict and people are getting killed. It's the nature of the beast.

The jews were not physically attacking Nazi Germany
The jews were not terrorising or threatening the people of Nazi Germany
The jews were not disputing borders with Nazi Germany

And to claim Israel's action in Gaza (warnings prior to bombing raids, provision of hospital facilities for injured, humanitarian ceasefires, provision of aid etc etc) is in any way similar to Nazi Germany's action of rounding up jews for deportation to work and death camps - that's just sick.

I have not read many posts in this thread but as far as I am concerned its very simple.

What country on earth would not respond if an adjoining territory was firing rockets indiscriminately into its territory?

There is much I don't like about Israel but it has always made it clear that it will respond to attack and it has proved time after time that it responds with huge (and arguably excessive) force.

Would Israel have invaded if Hamas had not fired the rockets? I very much doubt it.
