Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

free hit countersDesire Petroleum

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

Hi Marrow hope your keeping well, not sure which prospects they will drill next I would think with all the data and core samples they are taking will help them fine tune the map and determine which prospect look more favourable to drill and where.

I see RKH is on the way back up as next to drill and as long as I am aware the OG is still sitting over Liz the longer she sits there the more positive I get.

Come on Desire!!!!!

robstuff - 31 Mar 2010 13:29 - 4248 of 6492

I have a huge holding of DES and although feeling a little off colour at the mo still have faith that they will strike it rich this yr so have to sit and wait. The last thing i'm going to do is sell now and then the next well turn up trumps. Have held 12-13yrs so can wait a little longer. Keep the faith!! best things come to those who wait. The data has not been fully analysed yet and the rig hasn't moved so the first drill may not be a write off. Beth could prove to be profitable and this should be known shortly - Marky when can we expect news of Beth?

ITL still down 40%

Balerboy - 31 Mar 2010 14:34 - 4250 of 6492

no bounce coming....just a hop then down again...

Balerboy - 31 Mar 2010 14:36 - 4251 of 6492

Rob.. you must be well endowed (is that the word I'm looking for??) to have your cash tied up for 12 - 13 yrs in DES.. been a long wait.

cynic - 31 Mar 2010 14:50 - 4252 of 6492

and also a damn fool (a donkey perhaps?) if no profits were banked en route

robstuff - 31 Mar 2010 15:42 - 4253 of 6492

there have been no profits cynic - just expectation..

cynic - 31 Mar 2010 15:54 - 4254 of 6492

in 12/13 years you are still not showing profits of considerable magnitude??????

robstuff - 31 Mar 2010 16:28 - 4255 of 6492

Not likely to holding DES am I

Marrow - 31 Mar 2010 16:29 - 4256 of 6492

Markmar, I'm good thanks I trust you're ok despite Mondays bombshell.

I only hope rig is over Liz testing rather than operational problems. This first well has taken way longer than anybody expected. Cost overruns may cost us a well if we are not careful.

Strewth! I'm lost for words. Loyalty is one thing, but..........

markymar - 31 Mar 2010 16:32 - 4258 of 6492

Rob

Not sure all I know they were running a MDT and it depends on how many tests they do and then they might want to drill a little deeper there was a rumour that they had side tracked.

If no news Thursday then I would expect Tuesday if they have side tracked could be longer but either way Desire will do it here way, they know what it is costing every day and there must be some thing of great interest for them to be still there.

I am off to swelter in 26 degrees in sunny Cyprus so I wish you all a Happy Easter and fingers crossed.

Happy days

cynic - 31 Mar 2010 16:36 - 4259 of 6492

Rob - in that case you assuredly have not been holding (m)any for 12/13 years

mitzy - 31 Mar 2010 17:06 - 4260 of 6492

TheFrenchConnection - 31 Mar 2010 21:51 - 4264 of 6492

AT last i found some old notes from when i held DES in 2004 . Perhaps of interest is the fact that the log analysis from six wells drilled by Shell in the 90's- and which took 3 years to persuade Shell to allow the data into the public domain- indicates that within the deeper sand units of the syn -rift at approx 3400m a tad in excess of 165m of gas pay was present.Tantalisingly close to the Beth project Depending on flow and circulation this equates to approx .5- 7 TCF of gas. ln saying that it would take a find of between 5 and 8 TCF to justify the construction of an onsite LNG plant. Now theres the rub. Dare DES spend monies designated for drilling on such a plant .....Apparently Rockhopper has the only acreage with a truly recognised discovery at Johnson prospect; believed to be a very large gas bearing rock structure possibly 250 sq miles in area.

TFC : you'll send the stock flying again...I've been on about RKH's discovery for some time.....could be a sharp rebound again....
