robber - 17 Mar 2006 00:52 - 4267 of 11003

Snip, I wouldn't worry, Its something that would have installed itself as a part of the Windows update process.

Snip - 17 Mar 2006 10:05 - 4268 of 11003

My D Link wireless router is playing up - connecting and disconnecting randomly. Several years old so I'm junking it. Replacements seem to vary in price a lot. Any advice on my choice of replacement?

vistauk - 17 Mar 2006 15:18 - 4270 of 11003

Hi. Dont jknow if anybody can advise...I have installed newswatch desktop alert, but it does not appear to work. Installed the relevant microsoft framework, and then newswatch software. No pop ups, and Iam expecting an RNS!!! TIA

Kayak - 17 Mar 2006 15:45 - 4271 of 11003

vistauk, is the icon in the system tray? Right click and Refresh stocklist (the copy held by the alert software needs to be refreshed from the newswatch list). If that doesn't work, insert AVZ and ULT which have had announcements today.

vistauk - 17 Mar 2006 15:56 - 4272 of 11003

Kayak. Thanks for the advise.Spot On. Cheers

Had the RAM delivered, installed it (2 x 500 and removed the 1 x 256), booted up no problem. Now it is saying I only have 384 RAM in my computer!? Do I need to touch the Bios?

Thanks.

Mr Euro - 18 Mar 2006 12:53 - 4275 of 11003

Should I update my BIOS? How do I do that?! Ta.

Mr Euro - 18 Mar 2006 13:09 - 4276 of 11003

Now it says 896!! How can it configure 2 x 500 cards to = 896!?!

Mega Bucks - 18 Mar 2006 15:17 - 4277 of 11003

Mr E,I dont think you will get the full 1 gig of memory shown,it is using the other for the graphics card which is the norm on Laptops.

Mega...

Haystack - 18 Mar 2006 15:36 - 4278 of 11003

Yes. You are missing 128. (1024 - 896) and (512 - 384).

It is very common for the motherboard to have graphics with no onboard memory and take it from main memory. It also applies to PCs that have cheaper mother boards with intregral graphics and no separate graphics card.

Mr Euro - 18 Mar 2006 16:12 - 4279 of 11003

Thanks, is this a big problem? I guess not? Is there something Ishould do about it?
