Idd are the British leaders in this field, if thay dont get the contract I think thay will have a part to play, apart from that there must be other contracts in the pipeline shorley! goal.

banjomick - 23 Nov 2004 22:08 - 428 of 1253

goal, all this news about id cards(again)should bring a bit of interest in idd but doubt it will be great unless the gov.make a positive announcement ie,give a time scale for implementation along with naming the companies who will be concerned in producing the cards. The Launchpad venture looks more promising in the short time, imho

banjomick - 23 Nov 2004 22:47 - 429 of 1253

If they go through with this id card scheme who are the fav.to get get the bulk of the contract?

goal...very tightly...and wishing...and hopeing... there must be enough folk out there who are lucky enough to overcome my jinx, I have managed to drag it down 65% since I bought! so clutching straws, maybe my luck has turned (should't even think this) but my other two holdings RTD..and CHY have taken a strong turn for the better, both poised to rocket... unless the fates have it in for me of course.

off to Egypt(tempting the fates) to take there mind off here, not the safest place to go at mo.......

best wishes and good fortune to my fellow holders

grevis2 - 16 Dec 2004 00:10 - 446 of 1253

ID Cards are due to be debated in Parliament this coming Monday. The goverment seems intent on bringing them in. The total cost is estimated at 8 billion sterling (BBC tonight) with the cards costing around 40% of this figure. It's big and IDD reckon they're in for the kill if all goes their way.

.....ID Data has developed a range of secure solutions for the UK and international
markets in this fast-growing sector. A significant proportion of Europe's 450
million-strong population will require identity cards, plastic drivers' licences
and health cards thus offering significant potential. The acquisition of
CardBASE, together with our secure-production, position us well to provide local
and national identity solutions.

We believe that as the only British-owned smart-card company, we are uniquely
placed to participate in any introduction of national ID cards in the UK, having
contributed to the consultation process and formed strategic alliances to offer
a comprehensive and compelling solution.
