Football presenter Adrian Chiles has today been sacked with immediate effect by ITV.
The 47-year-old, who reportedly earns more than £4.5million-a-year and is one of Britain's highest paid broadcasters, has been replaced by BBC radio presenter Mark Pougatch.
MailOnline understands Chiles was told this week that ITV wanted to terminate his two-year contract early, which was signed shortly before the World Cup in Brazil last summer.
His sacking by ITV came four years after being lured from the BBC with a multi-million pound golden-handcuffs deal to become one of its biggest stars.
But within a year of joining breakfast show Daybreak in 2011 with on-screen partner Christine Bleakley they were fired after ratings plunged.
A year later Chiles' chat show That Sunday Night Show was also axed.
Last summer he took a £1million salary cut and agreed a £500,000-a-year deal just to present football on ITV until summer 2016 - but the broadcaster has now decided to end it early.
But the broadcaster would not comment on the reasons for Chiles' departure and neither would his agent.

H.T. Cam Utd 0 Man Utd 0.
50/50 and United can't tackle for toffees, interesting second half if Cambridge can play as well as they have 1st half.

Saw Bradford's goals and was mighty impressed !.....the fourth was just like I love soccer to be played and that's the way the national squad should play !....instead of down the side and stupid crosses into the box with a packed penalty area like we see most of the time....

Redcap resigns at QPR:
"I need immediate surgery," said Redknapp. "If I can't give 100%, it's better for someone else to take over."
A likely story!

Cracking transfer window for Cardiff ..... we got
2 Everton rejects
Rotherham centre forward
Millwall reserve left back
Huddersfield reserve right back
Southampton reject midfielder ... but can't be worse than any of the clowns we got left
Eoin Doyle (Chesterfield ?) .... top scorer in all English divisions this season (hope he's 7 foot and likes hoofball )
Start of season we had two full teams capable of winning this league until the owner decided to ship all our talent out and employ a clueless manager.
Gutted.
