Millwall Holdings plc - a "Wise" punt on European or Premiership football? (MWH)

thestatusquo - 17 Mar 2004 14:44

St. Patrick's day has gone to my head! One Bushmills too many!!!

I know, I know, Ive heard it all before, football stocks only for the true & genuine fans!

Today I fancied a gamble on the turnaround in fortunes of once struggling Millwall F.C.

Millwall last night booked their place in a lucrative FA Cup semi final at Old Trafford against Sunderland FC, and the chance to go to Cardiff for an FA Cup final and guaranteed UEFA Cup Football next season.

On top of this Millwall's playing revolution under Dennis Wise & Ray Wilkins has taken the club into the play-off positions for a possible place in the Premiership & all the associated increased revenue that would go with that.

All ifs & buts, but a few definitely maybe's. Football is a funny old game, and this stock is not for widows & orphans as they say.

Take a look tho! It can't do any harm to look?

Tokyo - 26 Mar 2004 16:37 - 43 of 77

around 450,000,000 shares just sold way below the bid price, something going on?

slmchow - 27 Mar 2004 02:02 - 44 of 77

Tokyo

This is one of the reason why chairman sold 250,000,000 (see RNS news) but there is still 200,000,000 to account for???
The team just needs to keep on winning. So roll on!! Walsall this afternoon

emailpat - 02 Apr 2004 12:38 - 47 of 77

Why do I get the feeling we are going to get clobbered by the MM's !!!!!!

slmchow - 02 Apr 2004 12:57 - 48 of 77

We are always at the mm's mercy
That is why they are the one's smoking the big cigars.
We just enjoy the crumbs if we are not too greedy

emailpat - 03 Apr 2004 09:24 - 49 of 77

Any idea on price Monday if they win ?

batty hill - 03 Apr 2004 10:14 - 50 of 77

emailpat - 04 Apr 2004 15:53 - 51 of 77

Where are all the Millwall supporters ????? - on the win bus coming home !!!!!

slmchow - 04 Apr 2004 16:20 - 52 of 77

What is the chance of a rich billionaire buying the club as they are already in the UEFA Cup next year? lwith the chance of of getting to the premiership still a very good possibility?

Well done Milwall!!!!

Now 7 or 8 games left to promotion or play-off

thestatusquo - 04 Apr 2004 17:07 - 53 of 77

Well done Millwall!

UEFA Cup football is a massive boost. Imagine drawing top European opposition to the New Den.

Big money spinner.

goss - 04 Apr 2004 18:07 - 54 of 77

Only being buying shares for a short time and took a bit of a gamble on these. Nice one Millwall.

UEFA cup should bring some money Millwall's way, which can only be a good thing. Can we expect the share price to rise with this extra capital coming in.

I also keep heaing the term MM being used. Can someone explain what/who this is and how they affect the share prices.

kantona - 04 Apr 2004 20:33 - 55 of 77

congrats to the millwall fans and the club ...

jeffmack - 04 Apr 2004 23:55 - 56 of 77

Ive just got home from Old Trafford. Fantastic day

Tokyo - 05 Apr 2004 04:51 - 57 of 77

goss - The term MM refers to the Market Makers, who set the price to buy and sell shares, I would expect at the opening of the market today, they will push the buy price of Millwall up, and muck around with the sell price for a while, so they can buy and sell these shares and make a huge profit themselves, the difference between the buy and sell price is how they make their money. I personally feel 0.4pence by Friday. With the new ISA accounts starting from today, this maybe be one that a few people, might take a gamble on, although to be honest most of my money will be going into RTD (see the thread on this board)

All in all a great result for all Millwall holders, and a big thank you to thestatusquo for bringing this one to our attention, certainly pays to read the threads on this board, and then run off and do your research.

I will be watching the price of this stock very carefully this week.

Good luck to all MWH holders

thestatusquo - 05 Apr 2004 09:27 - 58 of 77

I have sold this stock this morning and moved into CMS Webview(CWV) ahead of results.

Looking at the market cap of Millwall now it looks to be approaching fully valued. Sometimes the tiny share price can fool you.

IMO it really would be a gamble to hold on from here, and I would rather bank this profit and move on.

Good luck to all holders.

thestatusquo - fully agree with you, I also got out this morning, nice 600 pounds profit, not bad for 90 minutes of football

thestatusquo - 05 Apr 2004 09:45 - 60 of 77

Nice one Tokyo!

And you didn't even have to play for 90 minutes!!

Not sure if you've re-invested but have a look at CMS Webview. (CWV) www.cms.co.uk

The thread on this board is a big one, but the stock has huge potential. Well worth a read.

thanks again thestatusquo
