MoneyAM Cancer Research Project - FREE! (CANC)

Greystone - 19 Sep 2004 08:53

(Participation in this project is FREE. It makes use of unallocated resources within your PC and causes no detectable degradation of performance.)

One in four of us will at some time suffer from cancer. The high mortality rate, the suffering experienced by patients from the side effects of existing treatments, and the high costs of treatment all contribute to making cancer a priority for drug research.

By joining the United Devices network, you can have a direct benefit to cancer research. The UD software sits in the background on your PC and utilises any spare capacity to analyse data for cancer research projects. (It can also be set just to run when your computer is idle if you are concerned about your PC performance being compromised, but, in reality, there is very little overhaead and even running live you should see no degradation.)

Each individual computer analyzes a few molecules and then sends the results back over the Internet for further research. This project is anticipated to be the largest computational chemistry project ever undertaken and represents a genuine hope to find a better way to fight cancer. (You can also choose to work on anthrax or smallpox.)

Downloading the agent takes only a few minutes and once it is done it will function quite happily on its own. You can make adjustments to how and when it runs very easily. There is a very comprehensive FAQ section to help.

I have set up a MoneyAM BBers team so that we can pool our work and statistics. Why not join in and see how much of a difference MoneyAM can make?

Join us today and make a difference while you make money. One day you might be grateful to take advantage of the developments this research achieves.

Don't just make a donation, make a difference!

PS Thanks to MegaBucks who suggested the idea of starting here.

Saturday afternoon, why not have a look at the site and see what it's about.
22 of us in from am, could easily be a lot more.
Do you know if my name was Tony I feel sure I would be able to persuade many more to join.

Opto

i agree - it is amazing that only 22 have joined up - i know a lot of those in the traders room are already doing it with other teams but surely we should be able to get a few hundred from the amount that access

Fundy, thanks for your comment. I really do think that we could do a lot better on here in the investors room. Only last week when I had my friend, a computer expert came to sort out a problem. When 'looking around' found the UD site and asked what it was. When I explained what it was he became quietly very interested and took the site details and hopefully he will log on to help the research. His PC is on line 24/7 don't like this phrase but in his case it is most appropriate.

Whilst it is disappointing to have so few on the Team here, I must say that the input is really good. A heck of a lot of returns from such a small (but dedicated!) bunch. If member averages were recorded, we would be well up the league.

I hope a few more will check out the site and sign up soon... :-)

Back on stream again after a database rebuild...

optomistic - 23 Jul 2005 10:50 - 52 of 82

That could explain why I was stuck on 84% for ages, moving nicely now.
Have we gained any team more members recently?

Greystone - 23 Jul 2005 13:11 - 53 of 82

optomistic - Still on 24 members. Last to join was Elias Erkamo on 12th June (I think).

Great that we've clocked up almost 13 CPU years of input in our time.

Thanks to all who contribute and to those who don't, why not join us? - it is perfectly painless..... :-)

(Edited to show CPU years)

optomistic - 23 Jul 2005 13:17 - 54 of 82

13 CPU hours G ? thought it would have been 13 years :-)
Yes more should join, no problems and to the benefit of all.

Greystone - 24 Jul 2005 09:45 - 55 of 82

Sorry! 13 CPU years, I meant. :-(

optomistic - 24 Jul 2005 10:21 - 56 of 82

Morning G, Just had a look at the site and I see we have returned 9170 results. Not bad for the few of us!

Greystone - 24 Jul 2005 17:44 - 57 of 82

And....thanks to sealed, we now have 25 members! Good news!
