THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Meet the man Leon Brittan handed the lost VIP paedophile dossier to

(not satire)

In 1983, when he was Home Secretary, Leon Brittan was handed a dossier by Tory MP Geoffrey Dickens which included details of a VIP paedophile ring.

The file of course – we now know – then mysteriously went missing after Brittan said he “handed it to his officials” at the Home Office.

So who would those officials be?

Well, Brittan has already confirmed that the official who was with him at the meeting when he was handed the dossier was his PPS (Parliamentary Private Secretary).

And who was Brittan’s PPS at the time of the meeting?

Sir Brian Cubbon.

Sir Brian – although a former high ranking civil servant – has close links to MI5 and MI6.

In this document from 1999, Sir Brian is listed as a director of an MI6 front company called Hakluyt & Company.

And Sir Brian is also the official who was responsible for giving MI5 permission to tap the phones of leading CND activists in the 1980s.

And what is the relevance of the spooks involvement in the missing dossier?

Well, this is not the first time a VIP paedophile dossier has gone missing.

In the 1970s a special branch officer with Lancashire Police said a “thick” police dossier full of allegations from boys claiming they had been abused by Sir Cyril Smith went missing after an officer from MI5 told him it needed to be sent to MI5 headquarters in London.

It’s looking increasingly likely that VIP paedophiles – particularly those in Westminster – are being protected by MI5.

So don’t expect any arrests any time soon.

I think all Cameron's appointees should be vetted by an independent committee.

He seems unable to pick suitable individuals for himself.

(Or, perhaps, he doesn't.)

(But he does appear happy when they arrive in the dock, when of course he does stand by his friends. Pity he isn't in the dock with them!)

A lot of this has been an open secret , maybe they will dig up a few scape goats to apease the papers and the public to protect those at the very top.

Goldfinger

I have just read the July Spreadbett maq , and Anton Kreil says you need a minium of £10,000 to spread bet , saying 90% of retail investors lose 90% of their money in the first 90 days , and you should keep your margin at 5% to 3%

Haystack - 04 Jul 2014 17:51 - 43203 of 81564

This morning’s YouGov poll for the Sun had topline figures of CON 35%, LAB 36%, LDEM 8%, UKIP 12%.

The twice-weekly Populus poll also had a one point lead today, CON 34%, LAB 35%, LDEM 9%, UKIP 14%.

goldfinger - 04 Jul 2014 18:14 - 43204 of 81564

Fred it was at the time of the Thatcher government, Im guessing her finger prints are all over that dossier.

goldfinger - 04 Jul 2014 18:21 - 43205 of 81564

Alders....... Anton knows his stuff Im a member of his trading organisation, but ive debated with him that you can start spreadbetting with £1,000 and given the skills and knowledge move up positively from their.

I actualy know quite a few who have done just that and even with less money.

5% to 3% is a little too high for me, I prefer 1.5% to 2%.

I agree with his stats on losers though, but most lose because they cant MANAGE their portfolio, not because they are bad stock pickers.

Its all about preserving your starting capital when it comes to spread betting.

Without it, your out of the game.

cheers.

Asda Axes 1,360 Jobs Soon After David Cameron Welcomed Job Creation Plans
The Huffington Post Posted: 03/07/2014 16:07 BST

n-DAVID-CAMERON-ASDA-large570.jpg

Asda is to cut 1,360 jobs as part of an overhaul of its store management structure, just a few months after David Cameron visited the supermarket giant to applaud its plans to create 12,000 new jobs.

The move comes two months after the chain, which has 578 UK stores, warned that 4,100 roles were at risk because of a need to reduce the number of back office jobs in favour of more customer-facing roles.

Asda chief executive Andy Clarke said: "Every supermarket must adapt to the intense changes in UK retailing or they will get left behind."

The new store structure will create 1,662 section managers and 4,000 section leaders but the redundancies will come from staff who do not meet the selection criteria or choose to leave.

Rival supermarket Morrisons made a similar announcement last month when it said it would axe 2,600 jobs in order to remove layers of management.

The big four supermarkets, including Tesco and Sainsbury's, are all being squeezed by discounters Aldi and Lidl and Waitrose at the upmarket end.

Asda said the new structure places a greater emphasis on e-commerce, puts more staff on the shop floor and removes back office administration tasks.

Clarke said the restructuring was one of the most difficult decisions he has had to make as chief executive.

He added: "Whilst I genuinely believe that it is the right decision for the future of Asda, knowing that it will result in valued colleagues leaving us is not easy."

Clarke said Asda first noticed "intense structural changes" in the market two year ago, since when the chain has examined its own set-up and tested scenarios before coming up with the proposals announced today.

Intense competition has dragged price inflation in the supermarket sector to its lowest level for almost eight years, according to Kantar Worldpanel.

The figure fell to 0.8% in the 12 weeks to June 22, according to its latest till-roll figures, which is the lowest level the research group has seen since it began collecting this data in October 2006.

Asda, which is part of US chain Wal-Mart, has shown signs that it is weathering the difficult conditions after Kantar said sales rose by 3.6% in the period, helping its market share lift to 17.1% from 16.9% a year earlier.

Elm Guest House : Crown Prosecution Service handling leads to MP’s complaint
Posted on July 3, 2014 by David Hencke

A second MP, Simon Danczuk,,has complained to the Director of Public Prosecutions over the handling of Met’s Operation Fernbridge investigation into Elm Guest House.

This time the complaint is against the Crown Prosecution Service who have told a victim who says he was sexually abused there he is the only case where this has happened.

The official reply from the CPS is patently untrue since the Met Police themselves have admitted to Channel Four’s Dispatches that Sir Cyril Smith visited the house and was involved with rent boys there. And the person who says he was assaulted there was not involved with Cyril Smith.

The full story by my colleague Mark Conrad is on the Exaro website. It comes after Tom Watson complained to the DPP about the way the Met Police handled a rape claim from a woman against a former Tory minister which was also investigated by Fernbridge.

All this suggest that part of the Fernbridge investigation is not going well. And it strengthens the case for an overarching inquiry into historic child sex abuse investigations now demanded by 135 MPs

I don't know what that women behind the counter was saying , but i think the last word was OFF

Fred1new - 04 Jul 2014 20:23 - 43212 of 81564

The major problems, which damaged Kinnock election in 1992 was the Right Wing slanderous and libellous reporting of the fascist and right winged media.
This with the stupidity of the Sheffield Rally with the “We’re alright” performance, which I saw on the TV at the time and said at the time he has lost the election. That was the height of stupidity.
But saying that, the organisation of the rally was not his and at the time he realised it was a mistake .
Also, what the Con party, Haze and many of his colleagues are doing is a repeat of the run up to 1992 G/E.
However, the smearing may not work this time and perhaps it will backfire on the tory elitism.
Looking back, I was surprised that Ed Miliband was elected labour leader and thought he may have problems, because of self-presentation, but intellectually and in honesty is still streets ahead of Cameron.

My guess is that he will be another Atlee , Macmillan and his abilities recognised later.

Now a confession, Kinnock was at college about 2-3 years behind me, and I was playing a mid-week game as a guest for the Mining Dept against I think Sociology dept.
I got fed up with him tugging my jersey and clipped him across the ears.

Never known him to be so quiet.

Google censors story about George Osborne's brother converting to Islam

The news story link was one of several deleted by the internet search giant in the wake of the European Court’s “right to be forgotten” ruling

George Osborne and his brother Adam

Google has censored a story on Chancellor George Osborne’s brother converting to Islam.

The article about Dr Adam Osborne becoming a Muslim, in preparation for his marriage to Bangladeshi-born Rahala Noor, was first published five years ago. But the internet giant has deleted some links to the story in the wake of the European Court’s “right to be forgotten” ruling.

The move came after a request from an unknown person. Google denies being over-zealous in enforcing the judgment.

The firm has received more than 70,000 requests relating to a quarter of a million websites since it was handed down in May and admits a “backlog” of cases has built up. Journalists have reported articles being erased after the subject complained. But Google said it has begun reinstating some articles it had removed earlier this week.

Peter Barron, from Google, said: “We are learning as we go.”

Haystack - 04 Jul 2014 22:21 - 43216 of 81564

It is all pretty pointless as the rules only apply to Google.co.UK as not Google.com. plus you can go to any other search engine and find all the deleted items as the ruling only applies to Google.
