How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Italy don't seem to be playing too badly, backing them now, no lose situation for me ;-)

Greened up for the third time in the cricket today - Warwicks chances rest solely on Nick Knights shoulders - if he gets out Hampshires price will collapse completely

cheers PTH

will join you as soon as i can get away from the cricket

ptholden - 03 Sep 2005 18:21 - 4378 of 10502

Italy do look very threatening, Vieri should have had a penalty just brfore half time. Mind you Fletcher had a good shout 1 minute later at the other end. Will be amazed if Italy don't score in the second half. Huge gulf in class, but Scotland trying to make up for it by sheer hard work. Going to be well knackered in the latter stages of the match though.

I am green on the cricket now and trying to avoid being greedy.

Will switch the footy for the second half as there is a lot of money and odds available to trade.

Scripophilist - 03 Sep 2005 18:26 - 4382 of 10502

I just have as well, hope fate does not deal me a blow, then that is definately it.

Fundamentalist - 03 Sep 2005 18:27 - 4383 of 10502

Green for the final time at 1.06 - what a cracking match to trade

Scripophilist - 03 Sep 2005 18:28 - 4384 of 10502

If somebody can take that lay for 21 on Warwickshire I would be like it very much!

Scripophilist - 03 Sep 2005 18:29 - 4385 of 10502

Sorted! 113 profit on Hampshire.

Fundamentalist - 03 Sep 2005 18:30 - 4386 of 10502

378 profit on all 3 results :-)

Scripophilist - 03 Sep 2005 18:30 - 4387 of 10502

Will now switch to the Scotland match. No decision as what to do as yet.

Fundamentalist - 03 Sep 2005 18:30 - 4388 of 10502

Likewise scrip - question is whether to lay Scotland or back Italy

Scripophilist - 03 Sep 2005 18:31 - 4389 of 10502

"378 profit on all 3 results :-)"

Well done, maybe I shouldn't have wasted my time on the England match?

I have 64 on Warwickshire if they make a dramatic comeback.

only started with 200 capital but on the right side of 3 trades so cant complain.

The great thing i find with the cricket to trade is that the market often underprices the favourite and overprices the underdog and a high proportion of games have at least 1 if not 2/3/4 swings

game over - Knight out

ptholden - 03 Sep 2005 18:35 - 4391 of 10502

Scotland only playign with Kenny Miller up front. Italy will ahve to make a real rick for Scotland to score again. However, you just never know with footy, will this be one of those surprise results?

Scripophilist - 03 Sep 2005 18:37 - 4392 of 10502

Lots of people trading out at 1.01 on the Cricket
