ASOS: BUY AT LOW PRICE!!!! (ASC)

wilco99 - 12 Sep 2003 15:52

ASOS have dropped quite significantly in the past week for no particular reason and I view this as the perfect opportunity to invest as I can see them bouncing right back up to the 5.50p mark in the next 2-3 weeks. STRONG BUY!!

Freezing spring hots up sales at online fashion retailer Asos

By Neil Craven, Financial Mail On Sunday

PUBLISHED: 22:10, 8 June 2013 | UPDATED: 22:10, 8 June 2013

Online fashion retailer Asos will this week report a huge leap in sales after shoppers turned to the internet to avoid freezing weather on the high street.

Third-quarter sales increased by 45 per cent compared with the same period a year earlier, according to stockbroker Panmure Gordon.

The coldest spring in 50 years discouraged shoppers from leaving their homes.

Snug fit: Shoppers turned to internet fashion purchases

‘The UK performance remains outstanding and Asos teams in other countries are driving local performance in the US, France and Germany,’ said John Stevenson, of stockbroker Peel Hunt.

The rate of growth would be the fastest since last year. Peel Hunt said growth had been led by sales in Europe and the US. But UK sales remained strong, rising almost 40 per cent to about £65million.

Worst sales for eight years at Sainsbury's

In the past year Asos has extended product ranges, its latest is with high street discounter Primark and recruited more shoppers. The growth has helped lay to rest concerns that its UK performance had slowed.

In the same quarter last year, UK sales grew by just eight per cent as the firm focused on overseas growth.

High street retailers have also reported strong internet sales since the beginning of the year.

Last week the British Retail Consortium said purchases on the internet ‘saved the bacon’ of many traditional retailers struggling to attract shoppers to the high street.

Panmure Gordon expects the company to say on Wednesday that international sales hit £130million in the period. That means overseas sales are twice the size of UK sales for the first time.

The broker said last week’s agreement to stock some Primark clothes on the asos.com website would help drive traffic to other parts of the site.

ASOS (Other OTC: ASOMY - news)

Wednesday will also bring us a third-quarter update from online fashion pioneer ASOS . So far this year the shares have had a great run, gaining around 130% to 3,854p -- and since the start of 2009 they've 15-bagged. Of course, after such an impressive price rise, the shares are not going to be on a low P/E. Based on forecasts for the year to August 2013, in fact, they're on multiple of 80!

Such a high valuation clearly has a lot of future growth built into it, and we'd need earnings per share to multiply nearly six-fold to get the P/E down to the FTSE average of 14, so is that reasonable?

Well, forecasts for the current year suggest earnings will climb by 62%, and at the halfway stage to 28 February the company recorded a 22% rise. We'll certainly be needing a good second half.

thanks dreamcatcher good articles.
agree ,yes they are bit of right about price , a ton of next year earnings in it already plus last week Wednesday technically added bit of concern to me.having said that 40 could be top for now and maybe my time to unload 31's, just to buy them back later.but just maybe..trend is still up.we'll see how it goes up there next week.worst thing is to get this beauty wrong. both ways.. :)
