THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Anyway I think that article (so called lefty by Hays) is spot on. It shows how Lynton Crosby is running the Tory party and the country.

You do realise it was him that really carried out the Cabinet reshuffle.

The TUC general secretary, Frances O’Grady, said: “Serious questions must be asked about the quality of jobs being created in Britain today.

"If all the recovery can deliver is low-paid, low-productivity jobs – many of which don’t offer enough hours to get by – then it will pass most working people by and Britain’s long-term economic prospects will be seriously diminished.”

He pointed to recently released figures......

pay growth at a record low of 0.3 per cent, less than a quarter of the current 1.9 per cent inflation rate.

The UK isn't too badly placed...look to the population size of the countries quoted.

That post is really funny.

"He pointed to recently released figures......"

Frances O'Grady, the TUC general secretary is a woman. Don't you ever watch the news?

She has been on QT a few times and is often on the news. You should also try and remember that Francis is the male version of the name.

It is an insurance job. There was a flood. The insurance is paying for the base units, flooring and tiling. I am putting in wall units, work surfaces, oven, hob, sink, cooker hood, papering, painting and redoing the electrics etc.

Hays insurance will only cough up for base units, jesus it gets worse and worse.

So if you hadnt the dough youd have to have new base units and flooring and keep the existing upper units................. unbelievable. Its getting worse with them insurance companys.

Looks nice anyway.

That was Miliband making signs at Harriet Harman when she agreed with Cameron at PMQs when he pointed out that she had said it was necessary to tax middle earners more.

Miliband and Harman Divided on Tax

Look closely at the contrasting reactions of Miliband and Harman to Cameron’s PMQs ambush. Dave reads Harman’s words back to her: “I think people on middle incomes should contribute more through their taxes”. Miliband looks at Harman, then turns back towards the PM, shaking his head and waving his hand dismissively. Harman, meanwhile, nods and says, “they should… it’s true”.

Taken from a post on afn, re the downed aircraft.

Some interesting information on how BUK missile systems work:

"As reported earlier by RIA, the Russian Defense Ministry says it had intercepted the activity of a Ukrainian radar system on the day the Malaysian plane went down in eastern Ukraine, the ministry’s press service said Friday.

"Throughout the day on July 17, Russian means of radar surveillance intercepted the operation of the Buk-M1 battery’s Kupol radar station located in the region of the populated area of Styla [30 kilometers south of Donetsk]," the press service said in a statement.

“The technical capabilities of the Buk-M1 allow the exchange of data on air targets between batteries of one battalion. Thus, the launch of rockets could have also occurred from any of the batteries deployed in the populated area of Avdeevka [8 kilometers north of Donetsk] or from Gruzsko-Zoryanskoe [25 kilometers east of Donetsk],” the ministry said.................

..................And finally, as RT reported, the national governor of the Donetsk region, Pavel Gubarev, admitted that while the separatists indeed are in possession of one BUK missile unit, it is not operational, and even if it was, it would be unable to reach a height of over 30,000 feet without central radar guidance which the Donetsk region does not have, once again suggesting that a Surface to Air Missile, if indeed one was used, came from the Ukraine side. Surely it will be very easy for international monitors to validate this report."

Russia Today Journalist Sensationally Resigns Over Putin “Lies”

Sara Firth, a British journalist at Russia Today, has confirmed to MediaGuido that she today resigned in protest at the channel’s coverage of the Ukraine plane crash.

Press Gazette has these quotes from Firth:

“Yesterday when the story broke you get the kick in your stomach when you’re going to get the facts and it’s this huge story. And I walked into the newsroom and they were running an eye-witness account of God-knows who the person was blaming the Ukrainian government, and it is such a volatile situation. I said [in a previous interview], if I was asked to burn the facts and not tell the truth I’d be a goner, and so I’m gone… it’s the level of disrespect for the facts that really bugs me. And so I made my decision yesterday when we started covering the story and this morning woke up and I just knew that I can’t go back in any more. The thing is once I made the decision, you have to be honest with yourself and it’s so difficult…. Once you start telling the truth it’s brutal.”
