Sun's past the yardarm over here..

Blue skies today after the red sea of yesterday, I took a right smacking; probably did me good as I was gettingf a little blase about this investment lark..

snoball - 26 Feb 2004 10:58 - 4419 of 23498

Coffee and shortbread biccys please.

Not married to you then, GD. Tricky.
But then would you love her if she was?

I've been reading Kerouac again. Don't take any notice.

Peace.

Socrates - 26 Feb 2004 14:13 - 4420 of 23498

A big hello all. Old Socks is back and full of beans, not literally! I got time off for good behaviour, incarcerated in darkest Kendal for a few days. If anyone needs or wants to go there I can recommend a superb guest house.

That said, special on 7 Up behind the bar two for one. You remember 7 Up, lovely fizzy drink. Recommended by Snow White I believe.

stockbunny - 26 Feb 2004 14:24 - 4421 of 23498

KENDAL MINT CAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok I know you can get it in many places these days and no doubt it's
made in deepest darkest Milton Keynes or something but I remember that
stuff from years ago - school trip circa. 1974 (duh..I think??) anyway
bought my first bar of the stuff whilst in the lake district
on said school week long trip.
Scenary was beautiful, youth hostel was un-memorable, as were the rest
of form 4 whatever at the time....But the mint cake..ahh..worth remembering!!

Socrates - 26 Feb 2004 14:31 - 4422 of 23498

stockbunny
My first visit to the LD was in 1955, I also stayed at a Youth Hostel, food was not up to the Cafe standards and I recall I lived on half a dozen 6d bars of chocolate a day. Mint Cake I enjoyed but I preferred what was strictly school contraband at the time, Rum Butter. It's a wonder I was not either pickled or horribly sick but I loved it.

stockbunny - 26 Feb 2004 14:45 - 4423 of 23498

What's the betting it was the same youth hostel, from what I
remember it was less than bang-up-to-date when I went there!

Is the region still as beautiful and unspoilt now the years have
moved on? It's a place I want to re-visit at some point.

Poochy - Only my opinion but if she's married she's not worth
even thinking about - other ladies are out there for you with
less 'baggage' and potential fireworks attached!!!
((A Bods from the bunny for the disappointed pooch))

stockbunny - 26 Feb 2004 16:20 - 4424 of 23498

Quiet in here isn't it????
Oh well might as well do some clearing up - sure GD wont mind!!

Rugby stuff in corner - that can go.....
Football items - bye!!!......
((Goes out to dustbin....................Comes back..))

Bods...looks out of date.....
Do'nuts...past their best possibly and Snowie is supposed to be
going on a diet anyway..............
((Back to dustbin.................Comes back....))

Now.. that's better...where's the hoover???

Socrates - 26 Feb 2004 16:47 - 4425 of 23498

stockbunny
It's not a Hoover you need, more like a spade. Shall we have some tea, just you and me, nudge nudge, wink!

There could be some fun on the old shares game soon. Serious chance of PTG coming to life so old Jeffmack could be in the money
