THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

None I can think of. Must admit Max Im not very good with geo politics like you are and the rest.

For a start they certainly wouldnt want to lose the 2018 World Cup.

Must admit it makes it a lot more interesting now if the world takes on them findings.

Russia and the rebels would shoot it down by mistake. The Ukraine would have no need to shoot down anything as there were no Russian or rebel planes to shoot down. The rebels had shot down three Ukraine planes over the previous few days.

GF what about the news on Friday (the economy) back as it was before 2008 ,why would Labour win an election ?

goldfinger - 29 Jul 2014 10:11 - 44420 of 81564

Yep but your missing the point Jimmy, middle class workers are £1,600 worse off than they were in 2008 in real terms inflated up. GDP PER PERSON is no where near its 2008 figure, which shows a re -distribution of wealth as gone to the top 1%. (ive pointed this out on the thread late last week)

For exammple the FTSE top 100 boses are now on 156 times more take home pay than the average salary.

In 2008 this figure was just 9.

The people using the increasing number of Food banks and Pay day Loan Sharks arent the scroungers but full time working people.

The polls everyone of them have labour in the lead by about 4 to 5 points.

Im a capitalist by heart but I wont vote for the Eton boys now running the Tory party.

I would be voting for them if they had the right people in the cabinet.

goldfinger - 29 Jul 2014 10:15 - 44421 of 81564

Jimmy dont tell me you want these stuck up pampered little spoon in the gob types running the country for you in 10 years time. The Eton Bullingdon boys of the future.....

TANKER - 29 Jul 2014 12:13 - 44431 of 81564

I have already written that we are killing our children. Diabetes and obesity are assaulting our children in greater numbers. The United States and other countries, however, still do not understand that more and more scientific evidence points to the harmful role of chemicals in causing obesity and diabetes. These serious health conditions can no longer be explained only by poor diet and lack of exercise, as is being done in most countries, including by the American Diabetes Association. The Association stands to profit from funding provided by pharmaceutical companies manufacturing drugs to treat diabetes and food companies such as Coca Cola and Kellogg's that sell the sugary foods that are causing the epidemic. Very little money is devoted to promoting prevention, especially raising awareness of environmental causes. Care2 published this excellent article by Cathyrn Wellner on other factors fueling diabetes and obesity in the United States on 3 May 2012, including the way food is produced and lobbying to promote purchase of unhealthy foods. We are also exporting these diseases to other countries through trade policies. (See also “The Role of Chemicals in Obesity and Diabetes”.)

We are Killing the Kids

The tsunami that threatens to swamp the world’s health care systems is not about aging Boomers. What is rolling inexorably our way will make the temporary wave of that aging cohort look like a low tide. We are killing the kids.

Two of the major bullets fired at our kids are diabetes and obesity and their long-term consequences.

Diabetes

A study published April 29th by the New England Journal of Medicine raises the specter that Type 2 diabetes in children is virtually uncontrollable through drugs or lifestyle interventions
