Boris really wants Cameron to take a 'and if you don't agree with what we want, then we will leave the EU' type of stance.

For two reasons:

1. He'll likely get a better EU deal with an ultimatum like this.
2. Down will go the support for UKIP.

Votes for UKIP could harm the Tories and indirectly put Labour in power.

The problem with that scenario EL is.....

1. Cameroon doesent want to leave the €U, and has said so, undermining his position before he starts.

2. I think people who took the decision to vote UKIP at the €uro elections can see through his spin.

3. In any case, Millibum is the tories and UKIP's secret weapon. All he's offering is more of the same.
