How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Steve,

I must have taken you out at 1.08 and 1.06 as I was grabbing everything in sight at that time just to get out of my red position!

Fundamentalist - 07 Sep 2005 20:12 - 4470 of 10502

backed England at 1.26 - tempted to back Poland versus Wales - theyve had all the ball and look quite dangerous

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 20:16 - 4471 of 10502

71% posession England, NI losing a bit of shape. Tempting to back England soon.

what price do England become if they score inside the first hour

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 20:34 - 4474 of 10502

1.05 <=60 minutes

Fundamentalist - 07 Sep 2005 20:35 - 4475 of 10502

Fundy for England manager:

Change the system either to 4-4-2 or 3-5-2. Personally prefer the second option, Ferdinand, Carragher and Young at the back, Cole (either) on the left with Wright Phillips on the right and puch Rooney up with Owen and get the central midfield further forward. Got no real width and very little runs coming from central midfield

Fundamentalist - 07 Sep 2005 20:35 - 4476 of 10502

cheers scrip

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 20:37 - 4477 of 10502

I would have said around 1.50 for England if no score by half time so I am a little out, around 2% in favour of the draw.

Fundamentalist - 07 Sep 2005 20:42 - 4478 of 10502

Poland 1-0 up from the spot

ptholden - 07 Sep 2005 20:45 - 4479 of 10502

Backed the draw, greened up. May back England if they come out for the second half with anything resembling a clue!

Fundamentalist - 07 Sep 2005 20:58 - 4480 of 10502

What a bunch of overrated, overpaid, pampered ...........

Bring on the cricket tomorrow lol

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 20:58 - 4481 of 10502

Under 2.5 goals is over priced.

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 20:59 - 4482 of 10502

Looking forward to the cricket. If aussies win the toss won't they declare on some stupid total to spoil it?

Fundamentalist - 07 Sep 2005 20:59 - 4483 of 10502

Interesting decision - take off your only midfielder with any pace

Fundamentalist - 07 Sep 2005 21:02 - 4484 of 10502

Why has he brought Cole on and then played him on the right - is it me or has Sven backed 0-0 ?????

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 21:04 - 4485 of 10502

England drift should start to accelerate around now.

bakko - 07 Sep 2005 21:07 - 4486 of 10502

So glad I didn't back England, then again didn't lay them either.
