THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Interesting comment!

"Britain's trade performance over the past two decades has been worse than any other country in the G7, with a shortfall of nearly £40 billion in goods exports in the past five years alone. In a new report that lays bare the gap between the UK and its competitors, Royal Bank of Scotland found that goods exports were only 4 per cent higher last year than they were in 2008. If the UK had kept pace with global exports, that figure would have been 16 per cent higher — a difference of nearly £37 billion. - The Times"

Fred.

Whats does The Times know about economies?

If they had looked at the house price index, they would have seen that everything is hunky dory.

greekman - 07 Aug 2014 08:55 - 44681 of 81564

Have not posted on here for ages due to it being the Fred thread, (shame because it used to be a very good platform for views and opinions till Fred took it over) but I though this video on You Tube might be of interest.

It is long but if you go to 21 mins in and then to 35 mins in it is in my view excellent.

I am very passionate regarding leaving the EU hence my post, but I won't be monitoring this thread.

It certainly is not the Fred Thread, Fred like anyone else as the right to post here within the rules and regulations of the Money am board, just like anyone else.

The fact that he gets up and is active is not a case for other posters to knock him nor are his beliefs.

Anyone can post on this thread about anything they like to debate or bring to the attention of others. Become active like Fred, dont knock him because he makes use of the facility.

If you dont like a posters style its simple SQUELCH.

Thee is a simple solution to reading this thread. I have Fred filtered for the last few months. I am not aware of his posts and the thread has become far more sensible.

cynic - 07 Aug 2014 10:22 - 44684 of 81564

i don't actually filter fred, but i almost never bother with his posts and for that matter, rarely with friend sticky's, as they are both boringly predictable, as is hays all too often

ExecLine - 07 Aug 2014 10:40 - 44685 of 81564

Obviously, Fred has a doctor's appointment this morning.

Before he comes back I will just say, "I don''t like Fred's coloured cartoons. In fact I absolutely hate them and I think they are gross."

I do like cartoons from Matt. They are usually right on the button and highly appropriate for what is going on in the world around us, which does include the the political world.

Fred: Would you mind changing over to these and start posting Matt cartoons? They would be much more entertaining and if you do, then you will get a carrot from me. eg.

goldfinger - 07 Aug 2014 11:14 - 44686 of 81564

Hays you mean he kept beating you in debates.

Haystack - 07 Aug 2014 11:29 - 44687 of 81564

Fred doesn't do debates. It is just a stream of nonsense. I asked myself if I would read a thread just composed of Fred's nonsense. The answer is that I would never read the thread at all. On that basis I decided not to read his posts ever. The thread is much improved by Fred's permanent absense when I read it.

this should do the trick.....

Sir Mick Jagger, Dame Judi Dench and Stephen Hawking have joined hundred of celebrities, artists and public figures calling on the people of Scotland to vote to stay in the union.

Over 200 public figures from sport, cinema, television and literature have written an open letter to the people of Scotland in advance of next month’s referendum which says: “Let’s stay together”.

Other signatories include Helena Bonham Carter, the actress, Tom Daley, the Olympian, and singers Dame Vera Lynn and Sir Cliff Richard.

The letter states: “We want to let you know how very much we value our bonds of citizenship with you, and to express our hope that you will vote to renew them.

“What unites us is much greater than what divides us. Let's stay together.”

Just been talking to a 'Solar Panel' salesman. :-)

Panels: Degradation? Efficiency? Self Cleaning? German? Chinese? Warranty length?
String connections or Parallel connections (or not?)
Power Optimisation vs MicroInverters? Warranty length?
Monitoring of output?
Quality or History of installer company? Credit check?
Qualifications of Installer? Warranty?
Likely output?
Financial Yield? Payback time? Beating inflation? Losing bank interest?
Include a separate water heater or not?
How many quotations?
Own installers?
Scaffolders - own team? Regular contractors? How long before and after installation?

Cost seems to range from £6,500 - £7,500 for a 4kWH installation of 16 No. x 250w panels
Financial Savings seem to be around £800 - £1,200 pa (give or take).

These and a few more topics besides are just a few of the considerations.

Fortunately, Planning Permission isn't required!
Conclusions?

Hey! This is definitely worth doing but take care what you buy and who you buy it from!

Anyone else done this and had some installed?

goldfinger - 07 Aug 2014 16:37 - 44696 of 81564

Cheers George.

Fred1new - 07 Aug 2014 16:45 - 44697 of 81564

Thanks GF.

Many seem to have the Putin concept of any opposing opinions are invalid and should be surpressed.

--------

Greek,

Hadn't noticed you weren't posting.

Go back to your thin blue line.
--------

Hazy one.

It seems to me that your posting are generally filled with second hand hand downs with the mantras and hand downs from the con party HQ. God help them they seem in turmoil.

But I am notice views on opinion polls changing and see that you are realising the chances of you con party associates don't have a cat in hell's chance of forming a government the next UK government and Cameron with the residue of his grey matter thinks it is necessary to be in the EU.

--------
Exec,

You will have noticed, I hope, that the cartoons are not mine but those of the Guardian and Independent, as a personally I think a reasonable barometer of public opinion.

Think Matt's cartoon often hit the mark, but a different mark.

==========

Cynic,

The usual under-educated huff and puff from somebody in the mob commenting on something he purports not to have read.

As usual, consisting of unrewarding repartee.

=======

Anyway, have to admit it is a beautiful warm day in the Dordogne and the wine is delightfully cheap.

For Exec, Hazy One and Cynic the clowns are back, but hopefully not in power for much longer.
