But please give me yours!
Thought I would get in early for 2006 - as I'm sure there will be a few similar posts. Sorry to have missed the London lunch (and for being so quiet this year). Did anyone get in the vintage Krug. If they did, I want their tip for 2006 (since they obviously know a thing or two).
IMHO the mining and oil stocks will continue to dominate the equity markets in 2006. For miners I like the look of BHP at the top end and Griffin, Tanzanite one, Golden Prospect and Galahad at the smaller end. For oils I am sticking with Burren and Dana (med caps) and Victoria, Emerald and Oilexco at the smaller end.
Internationally I go South America and India.
But I think 2006 may not be great for equities and I think the real action will be in commodities. Gold, silver, lead, zinc, palladium and the agriculturals are looking interesting too - sugar, oats - maybe even wheat, and soyabean (been reading Jim Rogers lately)! Never a finer time to open a spreadbetting account and get in on the action IMHO.
If the US hits recession I am ready to short everything that moves.
Have a great 2006 everybody - i'll be at the London lunch next year - thats a threat!
Gf - what do you reckon to a bounce-back in DGM!!
Cheers

Politics politics politics
If it all comes together in North Korea then the star of the year has to be
AMINEX (AEX)
Big fat yield with the potential of being taken over then it has to be
LLOYDSTSB (LLOY)
World Cup 2006 so gambling will continue to boom therefore it has to be
SPORTINGBET (SBT)
Have a happy New Year (and a bloody prosperous one too !!)

Nobody mentions the star of 2005--Neteller! IMO this one has only just started it's run up for 2006 as the city boys I chat to think it has stengthened its prospects a lot with the acquisition of Nettbanx and holders only have to wait for the figures to light the blue touch paper! I'm holding and wish I could afford a few more!!

Hi MP
Good to see a few of us are still aboard Neteller NLR 7.69
been a bit dull for the last couple of months but seems
to be building for the next run, i
still believe it will be among the
stars again this year
all the best
HUSTLER
ps
for a pure punt take a look at Desire Pet, DES 33.25p
if they get hold of a rig upside could be massive.

VED dropped on Friday and again to-day early on about 6% down, Partially due to market drop and partially due to statement of financing future development. I think over done re-bought early this am about 994p. Expect it to wander a little before returning to Trend up.

May be. But check the news and accounts for the last ten years and see how many times it has promised or just look at its graphs.

Just had a look at the charts. Better than I thought. I did make a fair bit on TFC before selling at about 500p. But has only showed a profit about 3 years in in 14. When it shows a profit it will be interesting again.

WRN 20.5p then, now 22.5p (sales of properties imminent making good cash shell.)
CHP 6.9p then, now 12.1p (action has only just started here, awaiting news Feb.)
GFM 67.5p then, now 62.25p (zinc price has strengthened considerably so no reason for the weakening other than boredom/better opportunities elsewhere; this will recover well when the company feels like giving more info.)

Was 0.07p now 0.14p.
The rest will come.

Date of first price = 31/12/2005
Date of second price = 21/2/2006
This has been good for discipline.
Sold out Vedanta and re-bought gaining 50 shares.
Sold out WLF far too early and bought AML.
Sold VAN at about 580 and bought more rtd at about 150p
RTD, 134 150.75 +13%
PDC, 68.5 68 -0.7%
CSN, 155 168 +7.3%
AMT 154 200 +32%
VED, 871 1040.5 +20%
CHG, 736 1066.5 +44%
KGN, 9240 1120 +17%
AHT, 182 205 +13.5
VLK, 41.5 49.75 +21%
WLF, 339 383 +15%
HHR, 344 381.25 +10%
VAN. 502 572 +15%
Riskier Bets with larger than sensible stakes:
SEO, 14.5 14.75 +0%
AZM, 125 156 +23%
BPRG, 58 49.25 -14.5%
MDW 12.8 10.5 -19%
Risky but small stakes only
EOP, 42.3 42.75 +1%
NMT, 56 58 +3.5%
CRX, 8 8 0
VER, 61.2 77.5 27%
DGP 14.25 13.75 -2% (the last must come good sometime)
Expectation is that the majority will continue growth for next month or two and that RTD and SEO and probably BPRG will spurt ahead.
Hope is a wonderful emotion!
