How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

60% of chance has to decay on the next 10 minutes on NI that's 6% a minute.

bakko - 07 Sep 2005 21:26 - 4502 of 10502

NI odds are shortening at quite a pace!

bakko - 07 Sep 2005 21:27 - 4503 of 10502

NI odds are shortening at quite a pace! Already grabbed a few ticks.

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 21:28 - 4504 of 10502

Ditto

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 21:32 - 4505 of 10502

Bakko, Keep greening using the manual bet tab each time, just in case.

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 21:34 - 4506 of 10502

Keep your eye on extra time, the odds may jump when the extra time is announced.

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 21:36 - 4507 of 10502

Only jumped a few %

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 21:36 - 4508 of 10502

That's me for the evening.

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 21:39 - 4509 of 10502

Ok, Maybe not, That Rooney shot netted me a wedge. As soon as he hit it I swept up some money and laid it off!

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 21:40 - 4510 of 10502

I did ok but I still think its a mare! Sven is going to get crucified tomorrow.

bakko - 07 Sep 2005 21:41 - 4511 of 10502

Excellent night for me.

Thanks for greening advice Scrip. Scalping NI was far too exciting!

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 21:45 - 4512 of 10502

That Rooney shot netted me 4% in a flash, took a risk with a much larger stake on fill or kill but it paid off big time. That's made me a bit happier after seeing that shambles.

Glad youre all so happy lol

WOODIE - 07 Sep 2005 21:55 - 4514 of 10502

that has to be the worst england display i have seen in 40 years of following football

Scripophilist - 07 Sep 2005 22:01 - 4515 of 10502

Sorry to hear you suffered Steve, hopefully not too badly.

I should have greened up on my pre-match trade on England but never thought I would have to.

Fundamentalist - 07 Sep 2005 22:03 - 4516 of 10502

Scrip

my biggest ever loss but cest la vie - been having a good week on the markets so cant complain too much (was short PRTY -30% and long LGB +70%)

The annoying bit is i am one of the most critical of the england team, i just thought ireland were that poor even we could beat them. At least Henry got me some back with a beauty for the French

WOODIE - 07 Sep 2005 22:07 - 4517 of 10502

fund at least you still in to fight another day

ptholden - 07 Sep 2005 22:09 - 4518 of 10502

Can't see this team even qualifying for the World Cup let alone winning anything with Sven in charge. World class players led by a complete chump. Why can't we just play with a system that the players feel comfortable with rather than choosing a team to suit a system?

pth

Fundamentalist - 07 Sep 2005 23:02 - 4519 of 10502

PTH

Totally agree that the guy in charge is a chump but who in our side is really world class and doesnt just have a high profile due to our media? I cant see a single player in our side who would get in to Brazils (with the possible exception of a fit John Terry)

Dil - 07 Sep 2005 23:04 - 4520 of 10502

I had a great night on the Scots then went down the pub to avoid losing it on England / Wales games due to sentiment.

Should have stayed at home :-)

Fundy , the odds on Wales or Ireland beating England were stupid if you ask me and you were done more by emotion/sentiment/etc more than anything else.

I try to avoid Wales games except rugby and only go small then.

All the best.
