Birmingham Pie and a Pint

Fred1new - 31 Oct 2004 17:08

Any punters living in Birmingham Area interested in a Pie, Pint and jaw, one evening in a pub in Birmingham area.
Personally interested in small time investing(gambling), developing an appetite for CFDs. Also developing an interest in Charting or TA.

I use Sharescope, Moneyam, Barclays, Comdirect and IC

Awfully glad I hadn't read your last post S87 before departing to said butcher..erm sorry dentist as I hate going there.

Still good and bad news, checkup fine but an x-ray required for a sensitive tooth...no news will be good news.....just like the market really I suppose.

Fred1new - 16 Aug 2007 16:11 - 453 of 1427

It will keep your mind off the market. Just moved a few bob back into my Bank account.

I am feeling the pain. Think I will follow Survivor into the paint trade.

I forgot to inform our followers of this group, that membership is expanding rapidly and the attendance was up by 25% yesteday!

If it continues to increases at this rate we will have to charge for membership.

That is if the other three attendees agree!

Most certainly, quality advocacy does not come cheap.

Bartons Arms - has its own smallish car park immediately next to it on corner of B4144 & A34 - covered by a CCTV camera. 10m walk to the front door. Lunchtime today plenty of spare car parking space as only four cars in car park.
As Bartons Arms is at crossroads of dual carraigeways, then car park has to be approached in correct direction - that's westbound along Park Lane (B4144). Then turn left down small road (Potters Lane) that is immediately before the main crossroads with A34.....

Excellent Thai lunch menu. Good value as well with dishes in 4 - 5 range.

PS: The following venue seems well stocked with spirits:

"Whisky haul seized at coach depot...

More than 12,000 litres of whisky were seized in Walsall by customs officers.
The Teachers whisky was confiscated at a coach depot in Bentley Lane on Saturday, HM Revenue and Customs said....."

So Barton Arms looking promising S87?....not sure about Walsall )-:

survived87 - 23 Aug 2007 16:26 - 459 of 1427

Yep.... 'Easy' walk from car park. Also is easy to get to by bus #33 which runs every few minites starting from near Carling Academy in Brum City Centre.....About 10 mins journey on bus.
BA is also quieter than the Old Pie Throwing Joint..... And serves a nice variety of real ales...

Stan - 23 Aug 2007 16:28 - 460 of 1427

Not forgetting that thai food as well.

Fred1new - 23 Aug 2007 16:31 - 461 of 1427

10m! is that metres, minutes or miles???

If the latter I will start off now!

survived87 - 23 Aug 2007 16:33 - 462 of 1427

Certainly the food goes well with the beverages.....
Seen a note up there before saying that it's got free wi-fi access....
Also allows children in (unlike the Old Pie Throwing Joint) - but the only children I've ever seen in there were mine!!! so that's not relevant for our investment meet-up...

survived87 - 23 Aug 2007 16:36 - 463 of 1427

Afternoon Fred.... it's 10 yards from car to bar .... or perhaps 30 feet.... but lunchtime food stops at 3pm....

PS: I see the DOW's gone from +ve to -ve whilst I was typing the previous posts.... (Will have to resume decorating again..... ).

Stan - 23 Aug 2007 16:44 - 465 of 1427

Lots more red on the cards I feel short term.

survived87 - 23 Aug 2007 16:51 - 466 of 1427

Well, there was red on the carpet - but that was due to a mishap whilst decorating - knew it made more sence to drink instead of decorate....

Almost refrained from buying anything since last meeting ..... but on one share temptation got the better of me and I added .....

Stan - 23 Aug 2007 16:59 - 467 of 1427

Sure you weren't drinking and decorating? )-:

survived87 - 23 Aug 2007 17:01 - 468 of 1427

yes, sure .... but was decorating then drinking (in that order)...... but as nice, sunny and warm today then by-passed the decorating this afternoon...

"Oil continued higher late afternoon, buoyed by
strength in gasoline prices, and as fears receded that the fallout from the US
sub-prime mortgage crisis would hit oil demand"

Stan - 23 Aug 2007 17:08 - 469 of 1427

Very sensible in my view..by-passing the decorating I mean, talking of drinking I've been watching the build up to the W/E Folk Festival take shape near us....not seen any Brewery lorries arrive yet...

...concerned of Shropshire .

Ed: Held off buying still, more to come on the downside I feel.

Fred1new - 23 Aug 2007 18:19 - 470 of 1427

Are you suggesting we meet at an earlier hour for the food?

I have to admit I have been in the market and instead of being sensible and skillful, just B.lucky, may change tomorrow!!!
