Errrrrrrrr, why's Merlin been removed?

mg - 22 Oct 2005 12:39 - 4525 of 11056

I just love Merlin - he's definitely improved my trading. After a loss on Thursday I put in an order to sell at 1.7785 as I was away darn sarf yesterday. It triggered to give me a lovely 110 point gain which I duly closed as soon as I got back to see the screen - all in all a good trading week.

BTW - I've started to look more closely at the prevailing 60 minute SMA/EMA and MACD as the key to placing trades. I still follow the 5 and 10 minute but have been trying to trade against "temporary" moves on the 5 and 10 - against the "blips" but with the 60 minute.

Let's see how I do next week after crowning myself (for this week at least) MoTU ;)

What's Merlin - Have I missed summat? Is it Merlin's Journal @ Forex Factory??

MightyMicro - 22 Oct 2005 18:47 - 4527 of 11056

Dunno about Merlin, but the FX Fairy's been in.

Seymour Clearly - 22 Oct 2005 18:52 - 4528 of 11056

Yep, nice to hear from the FX Fairy :-)

HelenW - 22 Oct 2005 23:33 - 4529 of 11056

Can we have Merlin back, please?

hilary - 23 Oct 2005 08:52 - 4530 of 11056

I've put Merlin back where he belongs.

chocolat - 24 Oct 2005 02:21 - 4531 of 11056

Yippeee :)

Hmm...so far so good. Started another long Friday evening - I know :S - having closed 3 Friday morning from Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (2 at 1.7435 and the last one at 1.7598) Drew some crazy steep lines on Friday. But it's still down to MACDs and gut and probably a load of bollocks.

Anyone trading the Loonie?

mg - 24 Oct 2005 08:21 - 4532 of 11056

choccie
I've not long gone short the Loonie @ 690 - and still have an order in to go short again at 695. My graph has got more lines on it than yours - so it must be right :)

hilary - 24 Oct 2005 08:29 - 4533 of 11056

mg,

The loonie's a cad.

:o)

Choccy,

You might be right with that cable chart but, if you view Euro-dollar since the start of the month, things possibly look slightly different. 1.1920 is very much key imo. I think you've got to stay on your toes atm.

hilary - 24 Oct 2005 08:58 - 4534 of 11056

There's nothing common about this little quacker.

chocolat - 24 Oct 2005 09:46 - 4535 of 11056

Beautiful plumage Hils.
Very wary also because the range cable's currently stuck in has been one area of sup/res since the end of September.

And yours is also bigger than mine mg ;)

mg - 24 Oct 2005 10:02 - 4536 of 11056

Hils - me duck - luvverly

Chocs - agree about this being sticky territory - even with my big one - but it's 4 hour jobby I'm mainly looking at - so I've also got an order in to buy @ 1.7520 - at the bottom end of that possible channel. With oil and gold easing I kinda wonder if the dollar might start getting a bit sassy.

Yer payz yer munny and all that.

chocolat - 24 Oct 2005 10:13 - 4537 of 11056

Never any doubt that a 4 hour jobbie's best :)

You really should take a look at the Loonie - it's banging along a shallow resistance line from the end of September.

mg - 24 Oct 2005 11:07 - 4538 of 11056

Hmmmmmmmmm
See what you mean - stopped out of my 690 position - flat - but the 695 has now triggered. Think I need to keep a beady eye on that ;(

STORMCALLER - 24 Oct 2005 12:14 - 4539 of 11056

WTF is loonie, thought I was the only one round here??

hilary - 24 Oct 2005 12:40 - 4540 of 11056

It's the nickname for the Canadian Dollar, Stormy. Ticker CAD. Named after the Common Loon which is a pretty duck featuring on the Canadian $1 coin.

It's been Yawnsville Arizona this morning ......... I hope the Yanks can give it a bit of Va Va Voom this afternoon otherwise I think I'll put my feet on the desk and have a nap.

hilary - 24 Oct 2005 12:43 - 4541 of 11056

Having said it's been heavy going, I do actually think that we're going to see 100 pips or so this afternoon and, I'm sorry to say, I also think that mg's thong might get cindered.

mg - 24 Oct 2005 13:31 - 4542 of 11056

Ooooooooh that sounds nice !!

Stop in place @ entry so it'll be 2 trades and a just a flat day if it takes off. S'pose I could put a buy order in at the same level to try and catch it :)

STORMCALLER - 24 Oct 2005 13:32 - 4543 of 11056

hilary,

Thank you for the info (again), don't know what I would do without you..:-)
