THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

there is much about israel's present policy's that i deplore and worse, but this gas deal assuredly isn't one of them

Fred1new - 04 Sep 2014 12:25 - 45468 of 81564

Manuel,

Non-sequential argument as usual in your three of you previous postings.

You must try harder!

Haystack - 04 Sep 2014 12:30 - 45469 of 81564

So it is fine to give away Palestine's natural resources to British Gas and not compensate them. This means that in the very unlikely event of a two state solution Palestine will have lost much of their resources. Israel already steals water from the West Bank and rations the Palestinians while the illegal settlements have fountains. The oil and gas are just the latest saga of pillaging the rights and possessions of Palestinians.

Haystack - 04 Sep 2014 13:46 - 45470 of 81564

No interest rate rise today. Many economists forecasting no rate rise this year.

ECB has cut their rate today.

Fred1new - 04 Sep 2014 14:01 - 45471 of 81564

So the economy has recovered and is strong.

Should go down a bomb with the voting pensioners like Cynic.

Dave and George should keep on strutting.

Stealing Hays STEALING.......what do you call tax avoidance then????

No Flannel please.

Q. "..what do you call tax avoidance then????"

A. Tax mitigation - is one answer.

Tax mitigation and tax avoidance are terms often used to describe tax planning.
They should not be confused with tax evasion which is against the law.

Tax planning, or mitigation is simply the application of UK tax law to minimise UK tax liabilities for taxpayers. It may be considered as getting the best possible deal available within the law.

For instance, my wife and I are currently involved in mitigating tax charges for Inheritance Tax on our estates.

Goldfinger:

If you were to die and are not married then under the IHT Rules, anything you leave in your estate after the first £325,000 will be taxed at 40% for IHT.

eg, Die and have £1m in your estate on death. Deduct £325,000 for IHT relief. This leaves £675,000. The IHT on £675,000 at 40% is £275,000

Now I suspect, that being a tycoon and all that, you might have, let's say, £3m or maybe even more. eg.

£3m less £325,000 = £2,675,000 x 40% = £1,070,000 Inheritance Tax to be paid.

Now is it a case of bollocks to your loved ones! Just let them get on with things and effing pay it! Or, have you made or are you making some plans?

eg.
1. Have you made a will?

2. Has your loved one also made a will?

3. Out of interest, as part of your will and the management of your wealth (and estate), have you done any tax mitigation planning to reduce the IHT on your wealth or estate?

goldfinger - 04 Sep 2014 16:10 - 45475 of 81564

Exec I have lot more than that, many multiples.

But I was put on this planet poor with poor parents, but good parents who taught me wrong from right.

I will ALWAYS pay the tax that I am supposed to pay under present government policy.

I couldnt be further from the CHEATING Gary Barlows SCUM of this so called celebrity culture we have here in Britain.

As for my fortune when I die as Ive pointed out here many times, my son will get just one property(he as to learn to stand on his own 2 feet) the rest a pretty big fortune will go to Enterprise and Development sources who I will instruct to invest in the future development of our young people especially in Business Enterprise.

oh dear, oh dear, oh dear ..... round and round and round we go ..... next we'll be hearing about how it is immoral for companies as well as individuals to mitigate (legally) their tax liabilites

goldfinger - 04 Sep 2014 16:30 - 45477 of 81564

Not bothered about companys, its individuals like you cheating I detest.

It only means everyone else has to cover YOUR shortfall.

Barlow now that he as been caught is protesting his innocence, if he hadnt been caught we'd have heard nothing from him.

His OBE should be taken from him, Id even sling him in prison that would stop him from at least singing and talking wet on that x factor.

cynic - 04 Sep 2014 16:34 - 45478 of 81564

you might care to withdraw that personal slur against me
a) you have no reason whatsoever to make it and b) it is totally and utterly unfounded

============

btw, how and why do you differentiate between companies avoiding or mitigating their tax liabilities and individuals, who of course may be perfectly legitimately be set up inside a company anyway, doing exactly the same?

goldfinger - 04 Sep 2014 16:35 - 45479 of 81564

Breaking news............

Women be-headed in London on the street in view of everyone.

Man arrested.

More to come.

goldfinger - 04 Sep 2014 16:38 - 45480 of 81564

NO WAY you posted this.........

as well as individuals to mitigate (legally) their tax liabilites..........ends.

Like I have always said the less you pay the more someone else has to pick up your part of the tab that you have avoided.

And as for legaly, even Camoron said yesterday the tax avoidance schemes and manipulation are a THING OF THE PAST.

cynic - 04 Sep 2014 16:43 - 45482 of 81564

you're contradicting yourself completely

i have not come anywhere close to EVADING tax liabilites .... in fact, i have not done nearly as much as i easily could to mitigate my IHT liabilities

you say that you have taken sensible and significant IHT avoidance measures of your own

=============

the beheading story is reported in full on BBC news

goldfinger - 04 Sep 2014 16:48 - 45483 of 81564

I didnt say Evading, I said Avoiding.

GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT BEFORE I SET FRED AND TANKER ON YOU.

Just remember the cock up you made 2 months ago refering to a tribunal.

What a twit you looked.

cynic - 04 Sep 2014 16:53 - 45484 of 81564

have you been on the bottle again, or is it just that log you carry on your shoulder coming to the fore?

45482 - there is no question that you are attacking me personally for any perfectly legitimate (very simple actually) tax mitigation action i might have taken

almost in the same breath, you then say that you have taken very significant measures of your own

finally, you try to differentiate without any logic or support at all between companies avoiding tax (perfectly fair you reckon) and individuals (except you of course) doing the same
