THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Stop asking awkward questions c.

cynic - 12 Sep 2014 11:33 - 45755 of 81564

i assume you also noted that, inter alia, russia opposes air strikes against ISIS
why would that be?

MaxK - 12 Sep 2014 11:40 - 45756 of 81564

No idea c.

Buit it could be a touch of the old "my enemies enemy is my friend"

Russia is opposing strikes against ISIS in Syria as they support Assad. Russia is worried that US involvement in Syria may spill over into fighting Assad. Syria is almost Russia's only sphere of influence in the ME.

ExecLine.....not the first time this has happened.....they use machineguns to massacre these poor animals....it will take help probably from the UN to set up helicopter patrols and well armed border patrols and help from the Chinese and Indian governments to deal with this.

Martin McGuinness, Sinn Fein tweets: "Very sad to learn that Ian Paisley (88) has died. My deepest sympathy to his wife Eileen & family. Once political opponents - I have lost a friend."

Latterly known as 'the chuckle brothers', these two used to be the worst of enemies.

When I used to listen to Ian Paisley speak, I used to think he sounded absolutely so full of hate, that he was surely a 'Disciple of the Devil' and not a Protestant 'Man of God' preacher.

And then came the year 2007...............

He could never condone for the harm he did as the result of his rhetoric.

I think he and B. Devlin were responsible for much of the way the NI conflict played out.

That does not dismiss that the Catholic element of N.I. in the 50s and for a long time previously did not have justifiable grievances.

For many he will remain a sectarian bigot.

Are the "large" companies racing to aid Cameron in the NO campaign in Scotland the same donors to party funds.

If so what are they being promised?

Tories select fillum star to fight Clacton.

As Labour heads to Scotland, Tories begin Clacton fight

30 MPs, lead by Michael Gove, head to Douglas Carswell's constituency as Bread star is selected as Conservative candidate

While Labour MPs were dispatched en-masse to campaign for the Union in Scotland, the Conservative Party's focus was on the Clacton by-election.

More than Tory 30 MPs, led by Michael Gove, the chief whip, made the party's first major effort in the battle to hold the seat following the defection of Douglas Carswell to Ukip.

Even sadder, sends shivers down ones back JUST LOOK AT THIS, Hays and Cynic take a carefull look

Snap Shot Reuters 12/sept/2014 15.01, ...........

According to a recent study by independent firm Verum Financial Research, every 0.5 percent hike in the UK base rate would cut 4.8 billion pounds ($7.96 billion) from household spending, and a 3 percent rise would wipe off about 30 billion pounds due to higher debt interest payments.

It estimates that the total amount of credit owed by UK households has more than quadrupled to 1,437 billion pounds in 2013 from just 347 billion pounds in 1990. Significantly higher debt levels, which have grown from 90 percent of household disposable income in 1990 to 130 percent in 2013, mean that households are much more vulnerable to marginal rate hikes.

"Household debt levels in the United Kingdom are much higher due to significantly more home ownership, against countries like Germany and the United States," said Adrian Fitzpatrick, head of investment dealing at Aegon Asset management.
