Base Group - why is someone accumulating stock in this cash shell ???? (BS.)

paulmasterson1 - 23 Aug 2005 18:52

Hi All,

Anyone heard any rumours about Base Group ????

All I know is, that the price went up 86% last week, as one buyer (Crispin Barker - see below !) increased his holding by 8,000,000 shares, to give him 54,750,000, or 6.5% of the company, which is just a cash shell, looking for aquisitions for a reverse takeover. Today the price dropped, and it was ALL buys, 6.2m in total, so I reckon he has bought more, wait for an RNS to show it I reckon.

Crispin Barker is connected to Civilian Content, check out their recent RNS's ....

Artists Independent Network, the London- and New York-based production/management shingleshingle run by Charles FinchCharles Finch and Luc Roeg, is seeking a merger with Civilian Content, the publicly-listed parent of U.K. lottery franchise The Film Consortium and sales company The Works.
The move has the support of Richard Thompson, Civilian's founder and largest shareholder with 25%.

AIN has lodged a bid to buy the 22.5% stake owned by Crispin Barker, offering a premium upon the current $1.1 million market value of his stock. The deal is contingent upon the Civilian board agreeing the merger, due diligence on both sides and a vote by all Civilian's shareholders.

Civilian Content buys 5.92 pct stake in aim-listed invstment vehicle Motive TV

LONDON (AFX) - Civilian Content PLC said it has acquired a 5.92 pct stake in
Motive Television PLC, the AIM-listed television investment vehicle headed by
ex-Chrysalis industry veteran, Mick Pilsworth.
Motive TV was established in May 2005 to acquire television production and
licensing businesses in the UK, following recent favourable regulatory changes
in the television market.
Civilian chief executive Chris Auty said: "This is a strategic investment
for the company as we look to further diversify our interests. Recent changes to
the regulatory framework governing terms of trade in the TV sector are clearly
favourable to the production sector, particularly in drama and series." Civilian
Content specialises in film production, finance, UK distribution and
international sales.

Also what could be in store here ????
Civilian Content PLC
03 August 2005

Civilian Content plc

Change of Name

Following the company's recent announcement that it had launched a new
distribution business 'The Works UK Distribution Limited', and with its other
major subsidiary being 'The Works International Sales Company', the Board of
Civilian Content PLC has decided to change the group's name to more fully
reflect its trading names.

Therefore it is proposed to change the name of the group to 'The Works Media
Group PLC'. The previously agreed name change 'Civilian Group PLC' will not be
pursued.

This change of name will be proposed at an Extraordinary General Meeting to be
held on Friday 26th August at the offices of KBC Peel Hunt's offices, notice of
which is being sent to shareholders today and copies of which can be obtained
from the offices of KBC Peel Hunt at 111 Old Broad Street, London EC2N 1PH.

These companies and people are new to me, so does anyone know what the plan might be, and if it's worth a punt ????

Cheers,
PM

Paul, I agree with you. Very light trading today, very low value of shares, but the price is rising. Somebody knows something is up!!!!!

paulmasterson1 - 08 Sep 2005 11:53 - 51 of 73

neilmcleod Hi,

AYE !

There are so little free floating shares, any buying makes the price fly up too :)

I think Crispin Barker and Civilian Content may have something to do with the plan ....

Gone a bit quiet again, but a few buying these today, cheap as chips for now ....

paulmasterson1 - 12 Sep 2005 00:08 - 53 of 73

Any rumours in the press ?

neilmcleod - 12 Sep 2005 08:50 - 54 of 73

I haven't seen any stories about Base in the press for a long time.
The way the share price has been lately, I think it won't be too long before we see evidence of exactly what has been causing the recent interest and buying.

As I said already, somebody knows something is going on!! It just isn't public knowledge yet.

This is the frustrating time to own a share, isn't it?... You have the feeling that something is away to happen, but apart from mere speculation, there is little to actually speak about !!!

Still, speculation can be fun as well!!

Regards,

Neil McLeod

Seems I speak and the market moves .... LOL !

One 25,000 trade at .0009 and the price ticks up 5%, it's now possible to get an online sell as per the below, .0010 up from .0008 this morning ....

Someone expecting news ????

Sell Order Confirmation
Stock (BS.L) BASE GRP. ORD 1P
Quantity 1000000
Price 0.0010 GBP
Gross Consideration 1000.00 GBP
Commission 10.00 GBP
Stamp Duty 0.00 GBP
PTM Levy 0.00 GBP
Total Consideration 990.00 GBP

MAX online buy 150,000, MAX online sell 1,500,000, that says stock is in short supply, and if a big order has come in, the price will have to rise to fill it :)

By the way, that was just a dummy sell, I didn't push the button :))))

Cheers,
PM

automatic - 15 Sep 2005 15:37 - 59 of 73

strange that paul, 25,000 sell and up 5%

paulmasterson1 - 15 Sep 2005 15:48 - 60 of 73

AYE !

Some big buyer I reckon :)

Bugz - 15 Sep 2005 15:57 - 61 of 73

Why would it tick up though on a sale? I prob dont fully know how the market making process works, but surely someone selling 25000 would drop the price no?

PS: Not in on this at all but watching :)

paulmasterson1 - 15 Sep 2005 17:20 - 62 of 73

Bugz Hi,

There isn't much stock about(see my previous post on that) so if a big order came in, the MM's would have done what they could to fill it, including dropping or raising the price, to take out any limit sells, and the 25,000 was probably the result of such a move, and the 100,000 that followed it, which seems to have been reported later, as it was only at .0009, and online I was constantly offered .0010 all afternoon.

I guess we will have to watch this over the next 2-3 days to see if volume increases, or prices are manipulated to get stock, and to see if any big buys eventually go through. I doubt the price was moved for the 230,558 buy, as I could get 150,000 online before that.

I just edited my previous post, as I could sell 1,500,000 online, not the 150,000 I said before, that was the max buy I could get. being able to sell 10x the max buy volume available tells me they are really short of stock :)

PM

automatic - 15 Sep 2005 17:25 - 63 of 73

HI Bugz
beats me i don't know how the market works either, same as SEO 2,500,000 more buys than sells today (approx) and the sp stays at open price

paulmasterson1 - 28 Sep 2005 19:56 - 64 of 73

Hi All,

2 x 1m buys today ?

Ticked up a tad anyway, so I reckon they were, and as they were T trades, I guess someone is expecting something to happen quite soon :)

Cheers,
PM
