I am NOT sarcastic but wonder :-

1.Have you more money than Warren Buffet ?
2.Should you be in a mental hospital - I suggest you re-read your
post and ask a psychiatist to read it.

little woman - 28 May 2004 13:39 - 461 of 1685

No I've not more money - and I don't think I should be in a mental hospital!

If you do something you don't enjoy (I enjoy things that are fun) then you lose interest and personally then I feel its not worth doing.

I know lots of people who will not buy shares because they think its boring. They will play the lottery, and some will even place bets, because they find it more interesting and fun.

ajren - 28 May 2004 13:49 - 462 of 1685

I think 99.999 per cent of people trade in shares to make money.
Do you disagree ?
rgds aj

little woman - 28 May 2004 13:57 - 463 of 1685

Yes, I trade to make money, but I also do it for fun.

I'm a trained practice accountant, but I don't find it fun any more, so I refuse to spend more than 2 days a month doing it (To ensure I can pay my bills). I'm constantly being offered full time work, but I'm just not interested - it's just too boring.....

If I could make a lot more money trading (but I enjoy spending my profits too much, to build up a decent amount of capital) I'd never do any work at all ever again.

Bullshare - 28 May 2004 14:14 - 464 of 1685

And my entry for some fun is 4401. If I win (no chance) the voucher goes to charity.

Lighten up everyone the competition is for fun and has been ever since it was started months and months ago. I think the lowliness of the prize we are giving points to that!!

LW: Thanks for keeping this competition going.

ajren, quote; 'It also concerns me that the figures most people give are so high as to border on the bizarre.', since i have selected the highest ftse value for june it kind of suggests to me that i am the most bizarre! Thankyou.

ajren - 28 May 2004 15:15 - 466 of 1685

Hi Golddog.I apologize if I gave that impression.However,I said figure/not person/ was bizarre.rgds aj

Hi Bullshare. You say FUN .That is my point.I am NOT sarcastic but I suggest
all non - serious investors open a FUN thread.I,too, like fun in my life.

Bullshare - 28 May 2004 15:23 - 467 of 1685

Ajren; Surely the serious investors place trades on the FTSE in the market where they can make or lose money, people who want a bit of fun on the FTSE enter this or other similar competitions where there is no money to be made or lost.

Lets make it clear then for anyone else entering that this is a FUN thread.

ajren - 28 May 2004 15:35 - 468 of 1685

Bullshare
Do you realise you made a very arrogant statement?Let us ....this is a FUN
thread.I suggest it is a VERY SERIOUS thread and you merely speak for a
small amount of people.I think people say FUN as an excuse for giving such
a bizarre figure.

AdieH - 28 May 2004 15:39 - 469 of 1685

This Arjen seems to likes to cause debate (aggressive), have noticed a few threads where he seems to cause problems. This is a FUN thread nothing serious at all about it, majority would go with this not the minority...

Sequestor - 28 May 2004 15:40 - 470 of 1685

I see what you meant in the traders room LW, far too serious for words.

midknight - 28 May 2004 15:41 - 471 of 1685

Well said, Bullshare.
It seems you've lost the plot, ajren!

lw, 4439 for June, please, and keep the flag flying!

Bullshare - 28 May 2004 15:49 - 472 of 1685

Ajren;Perhaps as this competition has been going for many months before you joined MoneyAM you might bow to the organiser and originator of this thread,Little Woman, and accept her ethos. Perhaps you might like to start a Serious FTSE Competition 2004 and you can establish your own ethos.

ajren - 28 May 2004 15:49 - 473 of 1685

Hi AdieH,

I do like debating this issue.YOU are aggressive i.e.FUN thread....
majority would go with this.

Perhaps your bizarre 4567 explains your FUN

AdieH - 28 May 2004 16:40 - 476 of 1685

Arjen its just my point of view, its not serious i don't care if I don't win, anything wrong with that... Who knows what the markets will do, can you see into the future, if so lend me yr crystal ball...
