Russian clubs banned from signing Turkish players

Russian clubs will be banned from signing Turkish players during the upcoming winter break.

Relations between the countries have been strained since a Russian warplane was shot down by Turkish forces on the Syrian border, killing one pilot.

Russian sports minister Vitaly Mutko told R-Sport news agency that clubs had "already got the message".

"If anyone wants [to sign a Turkish player] during the break, there will not be such a possibility," he said.
Mutko said the sports sanctions would not affect Turkish players currently playing for Russian soccer clubs, such as Rubin Kazan's midfielder Gokdeniz Karadeniz, who joined the Tatarstan outfit in 2008

Everton v Manchester City and Stoke v Liverpool in Capital One Cup semi-finals
• Merseyside derby in Wembley final still a possibility
• Manchester City and Liverpool have home advantage in second legs

Everton and Liverpool have been kept apart in the Capital One Cup semi-finals, leaving open the possibility of a Merseyside derby at Wembley.

Liverpool, who defeated Southampton 6-1 at St Mary’s, will travel to Stoke City for the first leg, before a decider at Anfield. Stoke beat Championship side Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 in their quarter-final.

The other semi-final will be between Manchester City – 4-1 victors over Hull City – and Everton, who won 2-0 at Middlesbrough.

The first legs will be played in the week commencing 4 January, with the decisive matches in the week of 25 January.

Stan you robbed us and our banning orders have more than halved in last two years and will be near single figures by next season. They mainly relate to a cup match at Chelsea in 2010 where the Met police were more at fault than either Cardiff or Chelsea fans.

Dil - 12 Dec 2015 18:27 - 4614 of 6918

So Euro 2015 group stage looks like a straight fight for second place between Russia , Slovakia and England.

Wonder who we'll get in the knockout stages ?

Nice to see you back Dil.. shame about Monk going wasn't it? -):
