In the recent Agm the chairman said "the company has made a positive start to the financial year and the board remains optimistic about prospects for the business."

Pre-tax losses have also nearly halved from 6.4 mln to a loss of 3.4 mln on cost cutting. They have also had a successful fund raising.

Also chart indicators show that it may be time for the next leg upwards past recent resistance at 7.5p. and please remember you are responsible for the timing of your own buying and selling actions.

I've just been listening to TV commentary concerning the Government's decision to ignore the Law Lords ruling on terrorist suspects. What is evident is their determination to crack down on terrorism at all costs, even if it infringes European Human Rights legislation/ directives. With that in mind, it is almost unthinkable that they will back down over the introduction of ID cards. For those who are unaware, the second reading for the ID Card Bill is scheduled for this coming Monday. Also don't overlook the fact that the Tories have said they will support it.

This can only be good news for holders of IDD. Good luck.

What makes you certain IDD will benefit from the descision on the introduction, are they the ones in line to make them up. or will there be a tender from other parties, and if so , who are they?

ID Data present National ID Card solutions to The Home Office at Intellect Meeting
ID Data has made its first move to be seriously considered as a supplier of choice for the UK's National ID Card.

At Intellect's high profile conference attended by leading Home Office personnel and industry leaders, ID Data presented a challenging solution to the Government's needs for a mass issue of ID cards.

Peter Cox, CEO of ID Data plc, presented the Company's views on how they could assist the Government's plans to implement ID Cards within the UK.

The presentation focused on five key elements, that Cox and the Company felt differentiated ID Data from the crowd of potential vendors for the future programme.

They were:-

1. ID Data is the only British Independent Card Company capable of delivering the project in short timescales.


2. ID Data has the history of being successful in supplying over 5 million Post Office Card Account Smart Cards on behalf of the Government for the benefit and other payments in conjunction with EDS.


3. ID Data has the only full Java Card solution, Origin-J, a British development claimed to be some 3-5 years ahead of competition. This most importantly, allows cards to run concurrent programmes at the same time.

Cox explained the advantage being the ability to access, read and report on three or more different biometric tests at any one time. This could be iris, facial or fingerprint.

WHY SO IMPORTANT?

Orign-J's unique capability will reduce the number of rejects and misreads at the point of validation of the individuals biometrics, thus enhance the swift processing to meet any identification requirement.


4. ID Data has in place, a fully secure manufacturing and personalisation site within the UK ready to make and process secure ID Cards.


5. ID Data's partnership with the following companies:-

Toshiba - a world leader in silicon design and manufacture,

Toppan - Japan's leading security printer and producer of many passports around the world, including the US Passport.

Toppan is also the provider of the high security photo ID Card being used at this year's Olympic Games, a product that has been certified by the EU for security, but also for use as an automatic entry visa within the community.

Digimarc - the global leader in terms of providing Driving Licence technology with over 70% of the US Photo Driving Licences and DVLA as clients.

Lasercard - provider of laser, readright materials and technology. Lasercard has already been adopted in the use of the Green Card in the United States, the Canadian National ID Card and the Italian ID Card and now features in many new ID Card programmes to be launched over the coming years.

Datacard - the world's leading card personalisation equipment and system supplier.

The audience at Intellect's Conference reacted well to ID Data's presentation and future talks are expected with the Home Office and their Programme Consultants, PA Consulting. It is also expected that many of the key systems integrators targeting to be providers to this major business opportunity will work with ID Data to put together formal bids, including such companies as EDS, BT, and Syntegra.

The Conservatives' Shadow Cabinet is "united" in its decision to support the Government's Identity Cards Bill, leader Michael Howard has said.

The former Home Secretary said the cabinet would take collective responsibility in supporting the controversial legislation.

Mr Howard said he was convinced ID cards would bolster the fight against terrorism, crime and immigration, helping to make Britain a safer place.

However, they would make clear that they had concerns about the costs, which have been put at up to 6 billion, and the implications for personal privacy. But these objections will be raised during the detailed discussions on the legislation.

It was reported Mr Howard faced some rumblings of discontent on the front benches from Shadow Home Secretary David Davis, Shadow Chancellor Oliver Letwin and Transport and Environment Spokesman Tim Yeo, who reportedly said the plans "stink".

The Bill receives its second reading in the Commons on Monday.

Much thanks for that posting, very informative, and appears to give an inclination on what may sway the government.

I for one have advocated ID cards for some time, as it could include status re. unemployed ,etc , and could help fight fraud on building sites an odd work places ,etc.

Also DNA, could be included, and police crime could be solved in a matter of minutes, not days , or even going unsolved completely. This in turn would be the biggest deterant to crime stopping ,as you would leave DNA at almost every crime sceene.

This would save billions in police costs and Baristors fee(court cases) from a going forward policy......IMHO.solves crime in a jif.

Thanks fairford. It's obvious the government has had to water down the Bill to get it passed through Parliament. However, once it's an accepted fact they will gradually tighten the string. Somehow I doubt they will want to wait until 2013 before making ID Cards compulsory.

The stated purpose of the Bill is to:

Disrupt the use of false and multiple identities which are used by organised criminals and in a third of terrorist-related activity.

Tackle illegal working and immigration abuse.

Ensure free public services are used only by those who are properly entitled to them.

Ensure British citizens are able to travel freely as international requirements for secure biometric identity documents develop.
