THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

TANKER TANKER, I worship the ground Milly stands on.

Dont forget hes going to help you with Gas and Electic costs by putting a cap on them, and Ive heard whispers that the cold weather payment will go up from £300 to £400 plus the xmas bonus is being doubled to £20.

Tories wont give you that.

I will never forget how it was Gordon, that rescued my IceSave savings too. And how Dave and Dave, well, just gave me lousy rotten low interest rates.

Yes. I may well vote Labour or even UKIP or even Tory if they increase savings rates.

Hmmm?

£400 you say, GF?

And a free cap to wear for your electric and another one for your gas too?

By 'eck lad! I'm in! Well, I'm near to at least sitting on the fence. Please tell me some more.

goldfinger - 25 Sep 2014 15:57 - 46430 of 81564

BOVRIL vouchers. 5 per week.

2517GEORGE - 25 Sep 2014 15:59 - 46431 of 81564

Xmas bonus too, Mili - Claus no ring to that, unless that well known hard man of football Vinny Ed Balls brings Mili a sack full of money to pay for it all, but you would have to wonder where it came from.

2517,

I don't think Miliband is a con artist.

Actually, I think he is bright and trying to consider and frame future policies.

He has a hostile media, who I think have bought and been bought by the Right winged reactionary lobby.

He would be a fool to spell out the details of "projects" 9 months ahead of the G.E., even if they are fully considered and formed, especially when the rags and gutter press are out to denigrate him at any opportunity. Also, nobody knows including the tories, know what chaos the present coalition will leave behind them.

But I guess he is kicking himself for his apparent "stupidity" over his recent speech, and I can remember, from running two day workshops years ago, I had my program and notes written our in detail, because I was apprehensive of doing similar. I rarely referred to my notes but checked my program

From what I heard of the speech, it wasn't one of his best, but some of it has gone down well with parts of the probable Labour voters.

I think Miliband, if PM, will attempt to produce more consensual form of government and attempt to address some of the fragmentation and alienation which has been caused by the present mob.

======

I find it is interesting how the press and individuals like haze are more interested in killing the messenger rather than reading the message.

The message is that the public think this government is a bunch of liars and they don't trust them.

goldfinger - 25 Sep 2014 16:08 - 46433 of 81564

FRED SPOT ON.......

"The message is that the public think this government is a bunch of liars and thy don't trust them".

2517GEORGE - 25 Sep 2014 16:11 - 46434 of 81564

''what chaos the present coalition will leave behind them''. It won't be any worse than what they (coalition) walked into.

''attempt to address some of the fragmentation and alienation which has been caused by the present mob''.
You mean by not having an English Parliament?'' and not support Help for Heroes. Good luck with that.

cynic - 25 Sep 2014 16:13 - 46435 of 81564

i think the public is disillusioned with ALL politicians, which is what gives farage and his bunch of merry men a toehold

goldfinger - 25 Sep 2014 16:18 - 46436 of 81564

No just Tory politicians.

cynic - 25 Sep 2014 16:22 - 46437 of 81564

believe that and you'll believe anything, but then perhaps you do :-)

goldfinger - 25 Sep 2014 16:28 - 46438 of 81564

You Silly Billy........think about it.

We have just seen last week massive record turn outs at the polls in Scotland.

Are voters all disillusioned with MPs up there................you Silly Billy.

Haystack - 25 Sep 2014 16:36 - 46439 of 81564

The public by and large are stupid and fickle. They like and dislike each party in equal measures at different tines. You only have to look at the changes in fortunes of the parties. The trick is to get the public to like you when there is a GE. In between it doesn't matter. The public rarely get what they want otherwise we would have capital punishment.

goldfinger - 25 Sep 2014 16:40 - 46440 of 81564

Most sensible thing Ive ever seen you post Hays.

Did you copy it from a newspaper?.

Fred1new - 25 Sep 2014 16:41 - 46441 of 81564

2157,

There were problems when the coalition was formed and I had sympathies for L/ds joining it, but the coalition has dug the hole deeper due to their right winged narrow minded ideology.

Look at productivity and what it is based on.

Look at the deficit and debt.

Look at future prospects of those leaving University with debts of £50000 or more.

(What are their prospects.)

etc. etc. etc.

(My kids complete their degrees, MSc and Phds etc. 25 years ago, but I don't envy the
present kids leaving university, unless they are born with a silver spoon in their mouths.

Nor do I envy the kids who are leaving school now and have, or not apprentices etc.. I don't blame them for being disillusioned.

I was lucky to have been born at the right time and luck was on my side.
