THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

I don't care if their parents are the king and queen of Siam, as long as the appointments are based on "abilities".

I assume they are/were vetted by the the local party "machine" and it is up to the voters whether they are acceptable.

The same applies for tories, Greens, Lib/Dems any other party.

-------

What I dislike is the inequality of opportunity for all "strata" of society often due to handed down privileges and financial advantage and "poorer" education by those without such benefits.

(Not easy to remedy or change, partially because of lack of "wish to" by those who have and inability and competence of those who have not and lack of "suitable" educators.)

MaxK - 30 Sep 2014 21:30 - 46555 of 81564

Well. your position is a conundrum Fred.

On the one hand, the old school boy/dads/friends system is ok, if it's noo labour, but wrong if it's anyone else.

I think you need to go back and read those articles properly, cos you sure as hell are missing the big points in your narrow but unfocused view of the world.

Look out TORY BOYS there is talk of Kipper NIGEL coming out with news tomorrow at the same time as Camoron takes the floor.

Being discussed on SKY news.

Maybe another defection, maybe rubbish but one jurno reckons 4 defections before GE in total.

Arron Banks: Millionaire Tory donor defects to Ukip with £100,000 donation

A multi-millionaire Tory donor has defected to Ukip, announcing he will be giving Nigel Farage’s party a £100,000 boost on the day of David Cameron’s conference speech.

It is one of the largest single donations ever given to the Eurosceptic party and is expected to strengthen its upcoming by-election campaigns.

Arron Banks, who has made substantial donations to the Conservatives over a number of years, is the latest supporter to jump ship in recent weeks, Sky News reported.

MPs Douglas Carswell and Mark Reckless were the first to leave, followed by the former Deputy Mayor of London, Richard Barnes.

Mr Banks told Sky News he does not believe the Prime Minister will reform the EU or facilitate the UK's exit from it in the event of an “out” vote in the promised referendum.

“Being a member of the EU is like having a first class ticket on the Titanic. Economically, remaining in the EU is unsustainable."

Fred1new - 01 Oct 2014 10:38 - 46563 of 81564

But it is alright he is just a nobody!

=======

What is interesting is the commentary that "Cameron is setting out his stall for the G.E."!

When the remark was made the response heard was that the remark was being derogatory about stallholders.

Another remark about the tory conference in Birmingham was that the Spivs were back in town!

Perhaps, it was a conference for nobodies!

Haystack - 01 Oct 2014 12:09 - 46567 of 81564

Excellent speech. What an improvement on Milibland.

MaxK - 01 Oct 2014 12:10 - 46568 of 81564

Anythings an improvement on millibum.

Haystack - 01 Oct 2014 12:17 - 46569 of 81564

At some point closer to the GE, the public will realise that they can't tolerate Milibland as PM. The same thing happened when Kinnock was ahead and lost badly on the day. It is an OMG moment, "we might have Milibland as our leader; shit".

goldfinger - 01 Oct 2014 12:17 - 46570 of 81564

Promises he wont be able to keep im afraid.

Haystack - 01 Oct 2014 12:18 - 46571 of 81564

With Milibland, it is promises that he can't remember.
