Israeli occupation killed 10 Palestinians and wounded 43 since Sunday

Israeli occupation force launched more than 17 airstrikes and fired more than sixty artillery missiles against Gaza between Sunday 20 March to Wednesday 23 March killing ten Palestinians and wounded 43 others. The death toll is expected to rise as some of the injured are in a critical condition.

Swiss President Micheline Calmy-Rey has announced her country is developing a project to open up all crossings to the Gaza Strip, which has been suffocating for the last five years from an Israeli blockade.

She also said if Egypt would agree to open the Rafah crossing to bring in building materials and commodities, her country would be ready to restore it.

The statements came Monday during a meeting with several high-profile politicians in Europe staged by the European-Palestinian relations council.

They met to discuss Switzerland's role in supporting the democratic movements sweeping the Mideast and issues affecting Palestine.

Discussions included British MP Lord Andrew Phillips, member of European Parliament Alexandra Faith, MEP Derek Vaughan from Wales, and Swiss MP Geri Mler.

For his part, Lord Andrew Phillips, who headed the delegation, said world silence was to blame for Israel's obstinacy, saying that Tel Aviv understands that silence over recent attacks has provided a green light for more attacks.

Swiss MP Geri Mler emphasized the importance of Switzerland's role in preserving the Geneva Convention brokered in the Swiss capital and stopping Israel from violating it.

Switzerland has recognized elections in Palestinian and kept contacts with both Fatah and Hamas.

You mean rockets pouring down on illegally occupied territory. The increased rocket attacks are a response to Israel shelling Gaza and hitting it with air strikes killing children as they did a couple of days ago. As usual Israel makes disproportionate responses. All Israel will get is further attacks and bombs in response. You have to remember in all this Israel is the oppressor and the one illegally occupying Palestinians land.

Egypt are changing their stance day by day. The announcement of Egypt maintaining the peace treaty was a knee jerk response after Mubarak went. The later attitude is somewhat different.

Do you know what Israel does to Gaza on a daily basis? Because building materials are not allowed to be imported into Gaza, people have to gather gravel and stones for construction. They do this on the edge of Gaza city. If they come too close to the border then they are shot. They are still in Gaza and Israel shoots them over the border. This happens every couple of days. Dozens have died in this way. Gaza fishermen are fired on day after day injuring and killing several each week. Some rockets may be fired across the border from Gaza rarely hurting anyone. Israel mounts air strikes and fires artillery across the border killing families of Palestinians almost every time.

Do you also remember the Gaza pensioner who was shot in his bed a few weeks ago while he slept because the Israeli soldiers had the wrong house. They had only come to arrest someone, so why did they fire at a sleeping man?

Hamas approaches the border to launch mortars. They know if they get into the free fire zone they are liable to be shot. Ordinary non-militant Gazans don't go there because they know that.
Same with fishermen, get into the free fire zone and you're asking for trouble as Hamas has frequently landed terrorists from fishing boats who have slaughtered Israeli families.
That's why they have free fire zones so that non-militant Gazans know not to go there.
They try to stop building materials getting in because they are used to build tunnels to smuggle weapons in from Egypt. My personal view is that that is wrong and building materials should not be embargoed.

The pensioner killed. Terrible, I condemn it. I would think it was accidental or could have been careless. Still not in the same league as what they did to the Fogel family actually literally butchering them in their beds.

I suppose it is similar to the way settlers celebrate when Palestnians are killed.

It is interesting that settlers are allowed automatic weapons and get protection from the Israeli Occupation Forces even when burning Palestinians crops and attacking villages in the West Bank. The Palestinians get no arms to defend themselves of course. I guess the cowardly ILLEGAL settlers prefer sitting targets especially when they are unarmed.

Trouble coming Israel's way!

Do you know that an Asian worker is suspected of the murder of the Fogel settler family. Mr. Fogel refused to pay 10,000 shekels in wages which he owed an Asian worker he hired. The worker threatened to kill the settler and his family.

The worker is suspected of committing the crime after midnight Friday using a knife then fleeing the scene. Israeli army knows of the information leading to the suspect but refuse to announce or deal with it.

The story of Palestinians celebrating and handing out sweets came from Fox News. The story has been contradicted even by Israeli charities.

It looks increasingly like people may have been too quick to condemn. I have only seen Palestinians condemning the killings.

It doesn't sound like the type of thing Palestinians would do anyway.

If a Palestinian is convicted of the crime no doubt the parrot will say the evidence was concocted against him LOL. If someone else is convicted then so be it. Like British courts, Israeli courts usually get it right but by no means all the time.


The killings were condemned by the PA Prime Minister. Fayyad is a man of peace, not violence and hatred like the parrot and his Hamas friends.
Fayyad is pursuing a state by political and diplomatic means and I for one - and very many other Israelis - hope he achieves that aim. Under his influence the West Bank economy grew by 8% last year.

Eventually peace between Israel and the Palestinians will come, though I don't see it under Netanyahu. It's a shame Livni didn't form the government. The extreme right (yes they are in all countries) backed Netanyahu although he received fewer votes.
One of Israel's problems is their pure system of proportional representation.

I don't want anti-Israeli forces or political pressure.

What I would like to see is honest ongoing negotiations for a peaceful and realistic settlements with cessation of the ongoing Israeli abuses.

What I would like is to see unbiased arbitration to get a decent settlement for all parties, but unfortunately the present Israeli leadership in unable to negotiate honestly or respectfully with the Palestinians.

Difficult, but I think the sand in the egg timer is running out for a peaceful lasting settlement.
