Fred1new - 31 Oct 2004 17:08

Any punters living in Birmingham Area interested in a Pie, Pint and jaw, one evening in a pub in Birmingham area.
Personally interested in small time investing(gambling), developing an appetite for CFDs. Also developing an interest in Charting or TA.

I use Sharescope, Moneyam, Barclays, Comdirect and IC

Well, there was red on the carpet - but that was due to a mishap whilst decorating - knew it made more sence to drink instead of decorate....

Almost refrained from buying anything since last meeting ..... but on one share temptation got the better of me and I added .....

Sure you weren't drinking and decorating? )-:

survived87 - 23 Aug 2007 17:01 - 468 of 1427

yes, sure .... but was decorating then drinking (in that order)...... but as nice, sunny and warm today then by-passed the decorating this afternoon...

"Oil continued higher late afternoon, buoyed by
strength in gasoline prices, and as fears receded that the fallout from the US
sub-prime mortgage crisis would hit oil demand"

Very sensible in my view..by-passing the decorating I mean, talking of drinking I've been watching the build up to the W/E Folk Festival take shape near us....not seen any Brewery lorries arrive yet...

...concerned of Shropshire .

Ed: Held off buying still, more to come on the downside I feel.

Fred1new - 23 Aug 2007 18:19 - 470 of 1427

Are you suggesting we meet at an earlier hour for the food?

I have to admit I have been in the market and instead of being sensible and skillful, just B.lucky, may change tomorrow!!!

Stan - 23 Aug 2007 18:46 - 471 of 1427

If they stop serving at 3 as S87 says, then perhaps meet at 12, what do you think?

If you want to sample the Thai lunch then I'm happy with Noon or 1pm..... but I'm flexable regarding anytime ...

Hopefully there won't be any need for decorating by next month ....

>W/E Folk Festival take shape near us....not seen any Brewery lorries arrive yet...

Perhaps they're (the brewery lorries) a bit like some West Mids busses i.e. none come along for a while then suddenly a convoy of 'em arrives .....(except on Sunday when none arrive at all) !
I see the local pub, The Woodman Inn will be the bar for this years festival.... and that events will also be staged in the pubs in the town centre ...

Stan - 24 Aug 2007 08:45 - 474 of 1427

The Woodman, The Boat House Inn (On the River), The Wheatsheaf (Frankwell) and The Anchor are listed as "Folk & Session Friendly"

The Bird In Hand and The Wheatsheaf (High Street ) have organised Sessions. New venue this year so hope things go smoothly.

Ed: re-decorating, get your priorities right )-:

Suggest 12.30 as OK. In before the crowd.

Stan - 24 Aug 2007 10:08 - 476 of 1427

12.30 sounds fine for me.

Fred1new - 24 Aug 2007 10:24 - 477 of 1427

Stan, if you are meeting Chris at Digbeth before going to the Pub, may be worth informing retiredmum on the other board. She may like to tag along. Probably be able to pick all of you up, as it is on my way.

Stan - 24 Aug 2007 10:40 - 478 of 1427

That sounds good thanks for the offer I will post to that effect, if we meet at the Anchor you know where that is.

Fred1new - 24 Aug 2007 11:34 - 479 of 1427

Next to my boat.

Stan - 24 Aug 2007 11:35 - 480 of 1427

This is true )-:

Fred1new - 24 Aug 2007 11:35 - 481 of 1427

This is getting complicated for me. Make it the bottom of the cannal!

Must restart my tablets.

Stan - 24 Aug 2007 11:39 - 482 of 1427

Suppose meeting at Anchor will be OK by S87 so I will post to Grandretire with details.

survived87 - 24 Aug 2007 16:34 - 483 of 1427

Afternoon S & F ... just returned from a nice day out ....
Thanks for offer of lift ... Is Anchor revised venue or starting point to get to Barton Arms...?

Stan - 24 Aug 2007 17:16 - 484 of 1427

'Thanks for offer of lift ... Is Anchor revised venue or starting point to get to Barton Arms...?'

Yes thats the idea, see post 477.

survived87 - 24 Aug 2007 17:34 - 485 of 1427

Stan .... I must be a bit slow today ... but as regards 'Yes', is that 'Yes' to:

a). Meeting to be held entirely at Anchor

OR

b). RDV at Anchor and then proceed to Barton Arms.
