Dubious sell-off

ellio - 15 May 2006 09:10

The market seems to be selling-off on the back of limited bad news imo, apart from the dollar that is.

If you can hold your nerve and apart from any short term requirements to offload poor performing stocks, I have a couple!!, my advice would be sit tight. This does not have the feel of the tech(mining!) bubble at all. Difference being there are a lot of good fundamentals, unlike in 2000 when there were a lot of over rated nothing companies.

scares the shit out of me i can tell you .... lol!

Falcothou - 05 Mar 2007 14:44 - 468 of 1564

Hi cynic why do you choose the Dow and not the s&p500?

cynic - 05 Mar 2007 14:47 - 469 of 1564

no good reason ...... it's just the index that i have followed over time .... anyway, so far so good

Kivver - 05 Mar 2007 15:02 - 470 of 1564

bought more azm, kmr, ng. will tell you a couple of weeks how I got on.

cynic - 05 Mar 2007 16:15 - 471 of 1564

Dow long performing very well at least for the moment; will put stop loss in place before going home.

just bought a couple of gold contracts at $642.75 which is arguably $5.00 late

Stan - 05 Mar 2007 16:38 - 472 of 1564

Added some more BIFF at 314 at the death.

More potential for movement still this week though.

cynic - 05 Mar 2007 17:12 - 473 of 1564

Dow stopped out with 46 point profit = much better than nowt, and am glad to see that it is struggling its way up again

cynic - 05 Mar 2007 19:03 - 474 of 1564

note the time ..... Dow has suddenly perked up; now 12146 mid and trending higher .... keep your fingers crossed boys and gals, but i think Dow will finish about 12200, and with luck a bit above ..... if so, that will undoubtedly spill over into F/E markets

cynic - 05 Mar 2007 20:58 - 475 of 1564

not at all a happy finish in USA.... Dow finishing just over 12050 .... grasping at straws, the trading seemed generally quite directionless .... keep your fingers crossed and start praying to whichever god gives you most comfort

Big Al - 05 Mar 2007 21:12 - 476 of 1564

Right back where we started!!

steveo - 05 Mar 2007 22:31 - 477 of 1564

weak finish dow does not bode well for tommorrow. breaks below 12000 pyschological support who knows?

steveo - 05 Mar 2007 22:35 - 478 of 1564

ftse seems to have some support at 6000, if broken next stop 5800...

hlyeo98 - 05 Mar 2007 23:13 - 479 of 1564

Cynic, u made a right call today, well done. But brace yourselves for a bumpy ride tomorrow as Dow finishes on low today.

Stan - 06 Mar 2007 07:59 - 480 of 1564

The Dow was down true, but the far east was up so we will be as well.

cynic - 06 Mar 2007 08:06 - 481 of 1564

But we should all remain EXTRA wary ..... this bounce was overdue ...... as i have said before shares and markets do not rise or fall in straight lines ...... a salutary article from Godman Sachs on the front page of Telegraph Biz is worth reading.

steveo - 06 Mar 2007 08:16 - 482 of 1564

praise the lord :-)

cynic - 06 Mar 2007 08:19 - 483 of 1564

the next line is " ..... and pass the ammunition"! ....... think comes from 1st World War .... who has Book of Quotations (Book of Revelations can go back on the shelf for a couple of days!)

Big Al - 06 Mar 2007 08:23 - 484 of 1564

Sold the open and out for a wee couple of pence. ;-))

Falcothou - 06 Mar 2007 08:25 - 485 of 1564

Big Al - 06 Mar 2007 08:29 - 486 of 1564
