GD
Ok, but next week will not be until Friday evening as I will still be in Cheltenham.

I will post a race tomorrow.

Golddog - 12 Mar 2004 10:34 - 4677 of 23498

Morning.

I will get the coffee purr culator going.

little woman - 12 Mar 2004 10:41 - 4678 of 23498

Morning all,

Please pour me a coffee with something in it for my cold! (I think it's getting better as I no longer feel need to sleep all the time!)

Horse race betting game!!!!

In my "misspent youth" I did a stint working with horses, which actually included working in a racing yard. I saw too many horses "pulled up" so they won't win, so the odds would increase slightly for the next race when they did! Sometime it did backfire, but it made me decide betting on horses is a mugs game and horseracing should be enjoyed for its entertainment value!

stockbunny - 12 Mar 2004 10:45 - 4679 of 23498

Good morning nice to see our favourite pooch has found his way home
again!! I'll help with cooking when I can GD, but will watch T-I-M
very carefully whilst I do as he seems to have a worrying fettish
about rabbits...............(no comment)

Ah Snoball I know you don't eat rabbit, it isn't do'nut shaped
for a start, so of course you don't (giggle) Only joking!!

Ok another cold day out there, (yes I chickened out yesterday, took
one look at the index at lunchtime and turned the computer off!!!)
So for today to compliment Gd's chicken in a basket I have
lemon curd pie or poached pears in red wine - a little culture in
the tea-rooms today I think...ice-cream is as always in the freezer!!

I'll play GD or try to BTW on the horses.

snoball - 12 Mar 2004 10:57 - 4680 of 23498

Cheers for the coffee, GD, I'll have a do'nut in mine please.

jeffmack - 12 Mar 2004 11:00 - 4681 of 23498

Golddog - 12 Mar 2004 11:09 - 4682 of 23498

Littewoman, Horse racing, share trading! all a mugs game i suppose but it's fun. The real winners are always those in the know fiddling the books.

Bunny, The poached bears in red wine sounds great, and may have some with my lunch.

Snoball, Have you ever tried the pack of do'nuts that contain varied flavours or those with custard in - very nice.

Golddog - 12 Mar 2004 11:13 - 4683 of 23498

I have just started to be hooked on ebay (i have put a link above), never knew there was so much stuff for sale. Not sure i would buy a car without looking at it first.

Bunny, Have you got a car for your son yet?

stockbunny - 12 Mar 2004 11:31 - 4684 of 23498

No GD, number one son is still saving more pennies for a better selection
of motors to choose from. But secretly I think he's beginning to wonder
if he really wants the continual drain on his disposable income
that always comes with a car...being in an urban area the public
transport is not that bad so I think it's proving to be a hard
choice now for him.

Watch yourself on E-bay I've got a friend (true story) who is
addicted to the site and goes 'missing' for days only to reappear
having bought yet more stuff!

Morning Little Woman - hope the cold goes soon, try brandy and
lots of it!!

little woman - 12 Mar 2004 11:49 - 4685 of 23498

I seem to have run out of Brandy, but found a unopened bottle of Cointreau which goes very well with coffee.

Does anyone know anything about cognac? I have a boxed unopened bottle of "Grande Champagne Cognac" is also has X.O on the box - I premume that means something - perhaps X for 10 years? Should I save it for a special occasion, or just drink it?

Golddog - 12 Mar 2004 12:09 - 4686 of 23498

I love cognac littlewoman, i suggest you just drink it. I have a bottle of Martell VS on the go.
:-)

vasey - 12 Mar 2004 12:23 - 4687 of 23498

If the bar is open, GD, I'll take a glass of champagne, please. Got some girl-friends coming round tonight for a 'study session'..... so might as well start as I mean to go on.

Golddog - 12 Mar 2004 12:34 - 4688 of 23498

You know the bar is always open Vasey and the champers is always on ice for you. Your study session with the girls sounds fun! Can i come?
:-)

jeffmack - 12 Mar 2004 13:05 - 4689 of 23498

GD
I was looking at cars on E.Bay last night. You pays your money you takes your chance.

If I find a web page with the race details and form, what is the best way to post it here?

Golddog - 12 Mar 2004 13:11 - 4690 of 23498

Horsey Game... Rules...

1. Jeffmack will post up the runners for one race on a Friday which is due to run on a Saturday (possibly televised).
2. Punters start with 1000 funds
3. You may have a max of 2 bets
4. You may bet for a Win (your horse must finish first to win money)
5. You may place an e/w bet (each way, your horse may finish first or second and you will win half the odds for either finish)
6. If you lose all your money you are out of the game.
7. There will be no refunds for horses that do not race.

any questions?

Golddog - 12 Mar 2004 13:13 - 4691 of 23498

jeffmack, Whatever you think, as long as you list the relevant details, please post an example and i will let you know?

jeffmack - 12 Mar 2004 13:18 - 4692 of 23498

GD
I tried just copy and paste but it comes out shite.

Regarding the EW bet, I know we want to keep it simple but if you have 10 EW it costs 20 and it is effectively two bets. If the horse wins at 4/1 you have 10 win = 40 and 10 place at QTR odds = 10. If it came second you would get just the place part 10. Of course you would get your stake back as well.

Golddog - 12 Mar 2004 13:36 - 4693 of 23498

jeffmack, keep trying my friend im sure you can post something. Regarding e/w bets -im working on it?

vasey - 12 Mar 2004 13:46 - 4694 of 23498

Poochy, I have read Jeffmack's explanation of these east-west bets and it appears I can have a 10 bet that cost 20.....err.... And the difficult bit is choosing the horse?
