I was looking at cars on E.Bay last night. You pays your money you takes your chance.
If I find a web page with the race details and form, what is the best way to post it here?

Horsey Game... Rules...
1. Jeffmack will post up the runners for one race on a Friday which is due to run on a Saturday (possibly televised).
2. Punters start with 1000 funds
3. You may have a max of 2 bets
4. You may bet for a Win (your horse must finish first to win money)
5. You may place an e/w bet (each way, your horse may finish first or second and you will win half the odds for either finish)
6. If you lose all your money you are out of the game.
7. There will be no refunds for horses that do not race.
any questions?

I tried just copy and paste but it comes out shite.
Regarding the EW bet, I know we want to keep it simple but if you have 10 EW it costs 20 and it is effectively two bets. If the horse wins at 4/1 you have 10 win = 40 and 10 place at QTR odds = 10. If it came second you would get just the place part 10. Of course you would get your stake back as well.

Poochy, I have read Jeffmack's explanation of these east-west bets and it appears I can have a 10 bet that cost 20.....err.... And the difficult bit is choosing the horse?

Hee hee Vasey, i know ew bet costs double which is why i initally said an ew bet would cost what you put on and you get half odds money back for either coming first or second. Im trying all avenues for this plus what fits best into my spreadsheet?

good to see you back, I thought I may have hurt your feelings last week when I said that sometimes they cover up the horses eyes so that you ladies cant look into them, they do you know but not for that reason. I'm sitting in the chair next to the fire come and have something warm with me and we will talk about picking horses, I might have more luck than in picking stocks!!!

and did you win anything lw?
Im not really a horse racing man myself but always have a bet on the National, and have been to Royal Ascot a few times and to other race meetings just for fun. Very rare i ever win anything. :-(
Jeffmack, What about if you post a direct link to the page which as the race details? Then punters can see the selection then post on here their choice.

Ok for the Gee Gee Game the e/w bet will be as follows.......
If you want to make an e/w bet then double the bet sum......so a 10 e/w bet will cost you 20 or a 25 e/w bet will cost you 50. and so on.....ok
Now for the maths of it.....
You win money back on a first or second placing, no money for third place.
If your horse comes first this is the maths for a 36.40 bet at 8.5/1
Bet of 36.40 e/w will cost you 72.80
You get back 36.4 x 8.5= 309.40
plus half of this of 309.4 divide 2= 154.70
plus half of bet of 36.40 divide 2= 18.20
So you get back 482.3
If you come second then the maths is........
half of 309.4 which is 154.70
plus half of bet of 36.4 which is 18.20
and add on bet of 36.40
So you get back 209.30
This e/w system will now be the method of play.

jeffmack. Go to the website. Copy the url from the address bar when you get there.
Now comes the easy bit. Under the box that you post into here in the Caff is another slim box with 'link:' to the left of it. Paste the url you copied into this box and then press the button that says 'insert website link'. Then press 'Post Reply'.
Good luck.

Bunny, all you need to know is that if you place an e/w bet it's a double bet! if you win then poochy works out the winnings for you and adds it to your funds for the next time.
Pot of tea now brewed.
