jeffmack, keep trying my friend im sure you can post something. Regarding e/w bets -im working on it?

vasey - 12 Mar 2004 13:46 - 4694 of 23498

Poochy, I have read Jeffmack's explanation of these east-west bets and it appears I can have a 10 bet that cost 20.....err.... And the difficult bit is choosing the horse?

stockbunny - 12 Mar 2004 13:52 - 4695 of 23498

Not the way I intend doing it - take one pin.....lol

Golddog - 12 Mar 2004 13:53 - 4696 of 23498

Hee hee Vasey, i know ew bet costs double which is why i initally said an ew bet would cost what you put on and you get half odds money back for either coming first or second. Im trying all avenues for this plus what fits best into my spreadsheet?

optomistic - 12 Mar 2004 13:57 - 4697 of 23498

vasey
good to see you back, I thought I may have hurt your feelings last week when I said that sometimes they cover up the horses eyes so that you ladies cant look into them, they do you know but not for that reason. I'm sitting in the chair next to the fire come and have something warm with me and we will talk about picking horses, I might have more luck than in picking stocks!!!

little woman - 12 Mar 2004 14:06 - 4698 of 23498

Read the rules, and think I can cope with it - and it's not real money so it could be fun.

Please put my name down.

little woman - 12 Mar 2004 14:15 - 4699 of 23498

One of the organisations I'm involved with, has their own Marquee at one of the Sandown meets in February. I get a invite every year, but only went along 2 years ago for the first time. It was a fun day, starting in London @ 9am with a Champagne breakfast. At 10am coaches took everyone to Sandown then into the marquee as the bar was already open. They had TV screens up for people who didn't want to leave the marquee, and the bookies were just outside the entrance. Curry lunch was served at 12.30 and I was surprise at the number of people still standing when the coach left to take everyone back to London when it was over!

Golddog - 12 Mar 2004 14:37 - 4700 of 23498

and did you win anything lw?

Im not really a horse racing man myself but always have a bet on the National, and have been to Royal Ascot a few times and to other race meetings just for fun. Very rare i ever win anything. :-(

Jeffmack, What about if you post a direct link to the page which as the race details? Then punters can see the selection then post on here their choice.

Golddog - 12 Mar 2004 14:38 - 4701 of 23498

Bunny, I had the bears in red wine for my lunch and very tasty it was to. You are a true talent in the kitchen. :-)

stockbunny - 12 Mar 2004 14:45 - 4702 of 23498

You're welcome..after all this is a trading/investing tea-room
and if you want bears cooked in wine you can have them but I
draw the line at bulls ;.)

little woman - 12 Mar 2004 15:12 - 4703 of 23498

GD - I won't use real money for betting, so didn't place any bets - just went along to watch and get very drunk!

Golddog - 12 Mar 2004 16:03 - 4704 of 23498

Ok for the Gee Gee Game the e/w bet will be as follows.......

If you want to make an e/w bet then double the bet sum......so a 10 e/w bet will cost you 20 or a 25 e/w bet will cost you 50. and so on.....ok

Now for the maths of it.....

You win money back on a first or second placing, no money for third place.

If your horse comes first this is the maths for a 36.40 bet at 8.5/1

Bet of 36.40 e/w will cost you 72.80

You get back 36.4 x 8.5= 309.40
plus half of this of 309.4 divide 2= 154.70
plus half of bet of 36.40 divide 2= 18.20

So you get back 482.3

If you come second then the maths is........

half of 309.4 which is 154.70
plus half of bet of 36.4 which is 18.20
and add on bet of 36.40

So you get back 209.30

This e/w system will now be the method of play.

stockbunny - 12 Mar 2004 16:06 - 4705 of 23498

Oh my gawd!! Please sir the bunny hasn't got a maths degree!!!

snoball - 12 Mar 2004 16:25 - 4706 of 23498

jeffmack. Go to the website. Copy the url from the address bar when you get there.
Now comes the easy bit. Under the box that you post into here in the Caff is another slim box with 'link:' to the left of it. Paste the url you copied into this box and then press the button that says 'insert website link'. Then press 'Post Reply'.
Good luck.

Golddog - 12 Mar 2004 16:25 - 4707 of 23498

Bunny, all you need to know is that if you place an e/w bet it's a double bet! if you win then poochy works out the winnings for you and adds it to your funds for the next time.

Pot of tea now brewed.

vasey - 12 Mar 2004 16:32 - 4708 of 23498

Could you put me down to play the ponies, pooch? Will you put up piccies of each candidate as well as their names, please, so the girlies can chose the ones with the cute smiles?

stockbunny - 12 Mar 2004 16:37 - 4709 of 23498

Good one vasey (giggle) and the numbers of each horse please,
when is JMack posting the runners cos I'm not on here much on
evenings and not always on weekends?

GD - If you're doing all the complicated-addingie-stuffie that's
great by me - thanks and have a chocolate eclair!

snoball - 12 Mar 2004 16:47 - 4710 of 23498

Put me down for the races GD, please.

stockbunny - 12 Mar 2004 16:49 - 4711 of 23498
