THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Max,

Listening on and off to the Lib Dems conference I have a suspicion that they will do better than their opposition parties suggest.

Also, think Vince's speech will be seen as an relatively honest account and his opinion of Cameron and the present tory party resonates with the public.

Vince's speech will be seen for what it was. He has never got over the fact that Osborne got the job he wanted when the coalition was formed. The bloke couldn't even get his figures right when the Royal Mail was floated!

GF,

I agree with you.

I have recently seen the Form for DLA (now called personal independence payment)

4,444 words, 7 pages font size 10 pt to complete the blank sections.

plus there's a 10 page doc to read as well.

===============

It is b. ridiculous.

The "forms" are aimed at a one of the groups in society contain the some of the most "defenceless" and needy in society.

Many of those incapable of answering the forms accurately and have little or no support.

It is designed by an incompetent uncaring administration under the direction of IDS and a government which will leave a stench behind it.

Absolutely Fred, IDS and his department are going out of their way to make all welfare claim forms nye on possible for a lot of disadvantaged people to fill in.

They also know they have cut funding to voluntary groups eg, CAB where people could go to get help and also the DSS visiting team is now nearly extinct.

This is the nastiest government I can remember by a long way.

They just look after the very very rich and F the rest.

Dodgy Dave done yet again for Lying about debt by the boss of the UK Statistics Authority, Sir Andrew Dilnot.

AND

Vince C proves he was lying to the country on the deficit.

Last weeks Tory Party congress was just one BIG LIE and the public have fallen for it.

Lets hope by the GE they have seen through this Tory Scum.

goldfinger - 07 Oct 2014 09:51 - 46940 of 81564

Hays 2% is not big enough to give the Tories an outright victory. They would again need Lib Dems, but I think this time Clegg would opt to go with Labour.

cynic - 07 Oct 2014 09:54 - 46941 of 81564

and i don't think any of you should pay any attention to these polls except perhaps to gauge a trend over several weeks

UK industrial production flat in August; still 9.6% below the pre-crisis peak http://www.theguardian.com/business/live/2014/oct/07/german-industrial-output-plunges-international-monetary-fund-growth-forecasts-business-live?view=desktop#block-5433a4a2e4b0cd82a095ed7c …

Certainly, support for the Tories and UKIP is strengthenenenening.

Certainly, support for the Lib Dems and Labour is weakenenenening.

goldfinger - 07 Oct 2014 10:02 - 46945 of 81564

EXEC the last thing the Tories want to see is support for UKIP strengthening.

Pollsters have said that if UKIP get 9% of the vote at the GE it will let labour into power.

goldfinger - 07 Oct 2014 10:03 - 46947 of 81564

LOL Hays Tory press again.

Mansion Tax is a daft tax in that it cannot be paid on an annual basis by people who are asset rich and cash poor. Albeit, that it might force such people into having to sell the property. Some of these property types would just stay empty, MHO, and in some cases this would create fresh problems as these bigger houses fall into ruin and decay becasue owners can't afford the taxes on them.

Property values are currently coming down. Mansion Tax doesn't seem to take that adequately into account.

Perhaps a form of Capital Gains Tax for own homes might fare better as it would be more common-sensical. The cash to pay it would be funded at exactly the best and right time to pay it from the profit on the sale.
