This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.
Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........
MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture
We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.
Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.
This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)
The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.
Please DYOR
cheers GF.

Financial
Pre-exceptional loss in line with expectations
Reduction in staff and directors' costs
Year-end cash increased by 24%
Market capitalisation increased from 2m to 29m
Commenting on outlook & prospects, David Best, Executive Chairman, said:
'The prospects for the coming year are the most exciting in the Company's
history. The DNA vaccines are already in clinical trials and are expected to be
followed by products in Oncosense in the current year and by Viratis next year.
We are in advanced discussions with a number of parties concerning the further
broadening of our portfolio. Some of the proposed new funding will go towards
this objective. We intend to ensure that the investment community is made more
aware of the developments within MMI and we hope this leads not only to a
continued rise in the share price but also to a significant re-rating relative
to our peers and a consequent rise in the value of the Company.'

Why on earth are people selling this week, just as things look likely to take off?
Am I being too cynical suggesting that the price is being manipulated below 70p until the AGM and shareholder approval of the fund raising?
Shareholders saying no is not likely or there was no point existing shareholders investing in the first place!
Any thoughts GF & Mitzy

No chance of me baling, in fact bought some more this week as buying opportunity caused by this temporary drop.
I am still learning this game having started this year, sometimes with hard lessons but now have smaller portfolio of hopefully promising companies.
On a small diversion as you have seen on another thread, Stanelco's 9SEO)court case tomorrow, if they lose any selling and drop in sp will be another buying opportunity.

I keep syaing to myself don't worry, they can't raise another 2.3 million from institutions if there is not something going for them, especially at a time when apparently they are selling UK equities?
These people wouldn't give 70p a share to not stand a chance of a reasonable return! I'm sticking with it and looking forward to the good news.
Hopefully good return before Christmas, glad I invested in this rather than CEN.

Well the bad news is that Blaven Technologies their Scottish subsidiary bases in Livingston has closed down as it failed to achieve revenue targets.Established 3 years ago it was MMI's nanotechnolgy arm with Billy Mitchell as chief executive but it failed to develop..it was supposed to be the next best idea according to DB at the time but hardly mentioned by him in the last couple of years. One thing is that now closed their costs next year will be reduced.
And the good news funny enough is also from Scotland in the shape of the collaboration with Edinburgh University to develop the ruthenium class of drugs which they reckon will be a blockbuster in the world of cancer drugs.
Over 15 compounds have been identified as showing high activity against difficult to treat cancer types as well as being useful against a wide range of tumours.
Also they have had success with Onco 0200 series of pineapple proteases with regard to ovarian cancer.
Genvax their new bio-baby dealing with Dna vaccines is already in clinical trials and Oncosense is due to commence this year and Viratis next year.
