<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. Desire Petroleum plc announced that the Rachel 14/15-1 exploration well was spudded on 27 September 2010. The Rachel prospect is located in Tranche D and has an estimated target depth of 2,850m. Drilling operations are expected to take
approximately 35 days and a further announcement will be made once drilling is completed.

Comment

The Rachel prospect is a post-rift lacustrine fan play on the eastern flank of the North Falklands basin, similar to Rockhoppers Sea Lion discovery. The pre-drill unrisked
resources size is 318MMbo for the mean estimate with P90-P10 of 38-630MMbo and a chance of success of 15% as per Senergys competent person report of September
2009. Given the success of Rockhopper at Sea Lion, we would attribute a higher chance of success than 15% to Rachel. Using a 25% chance of success for Rachel, instead of 15%, increases our risked valuation for the Company from 150p to 200p.
After the disappointment at Liz, a lot of Desires fortune rest on the results of the Rachel 14/15-1 exploration well; however we believe there is upside in the stock from those levels. Ninky is a similar prospect to Rachel and Sea Lion with a pre-drill
unrisked mean estimate of 122 MMbo and could be the next prospect to be drilled depending on the results of Rachel.

Recommendation

We see some upside to the stock in the short-term and hence upgrade to a Buy with a price target of 200p.

Issue of Equity & Total Voting Rights

Pursuant to the announcement made on 24 September in which Desire announced the
placing of 16,294,600 new ordinary shares at 140 pence each to raise GBP22.8
million the Company announces application has been made for the admittance to
trading on AIM of 16,294,600 new ordinary shares of 1p each. It is expected
that dealings in the new ordinary shares will commence on 29 September 2010
("Admission"). The new ordinary shares will, upon issue, rank pari passu in all
respects with the existing issued Ordinary Shares.

Following Admission, the total number of shares in issue is 342,185,172. There
are no shares held in treasury.

The above figure of 342,185,172 may be used by shareholders as the denominator
for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify
their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company, under the
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.

Will these new shares drop the sp or will drilling keep it steady, is there a buying opportunity coming??

Chav that bending of a ear regarding Argos could not put a name to info so you could be correct,can you check your mail and chuck a clog back. asap!!!!

Doesn't look like the DES sp is going to oblige by dropping much before the drilling results. I still think it's worth having a small stake just in case they hit oil, but it may have to be at around the 150 level.

As long a it remains at this level : I will not be in.....550 million in value...you have to be joking.....

And if they hit oil the sp will rocket & yet again you will be left out, which will upset you! ;o)

Not really Harrycat.....plenty of other fish in the sea...the problem is that they have to hit 50 million barrels minimum.....so just finding 10 million is not enough.....so in the worst case : the stock could end up below 60p.....this is a toss of a coin....I might jump in...but not in any rush...and if they hit oil in commercial quantities...where is the sp going ?....2.5.....that values the company at over a billion pounds.....

O.K. Up to you, but if you're not in it, you can't win it, so just a token stake might be worth while! Initially, if they hit oil, the quantity will be immaterial. Hype & momentum will support the sp.

Hype has pushed this right up....it might not work this time...but I might take a bite...just not sure about this and a serious drop is going to piss me off big time....
