Unfortunately Mrs JM is Coeliac (wheat alergy) which always cuts down our options when eating. But shopping she can do.

Morning Socs

hilary - 13 Mar 2004 09:04 - 4738 of 23498

Morning Old Socs.

I'm only lurking because we had a power cut at 7pm last night just as we were cooking dinner ...... didn't come back on till 12:45am and it woke me up with a start because I'd left my bedside light on by mistake. Wanted to check that my Cable position was still intact.

hilary - 13 Mar 2004 09:06 - 4739 of 23498

Jeff,

A friend's little girl has that (I think). Gluten free diet?? She carries homemade bread around with her wherever she goes.

Socrates - 13 Mar 2004 09:18 - 4740 of 23498

Hilary
Cable position? Lost me there.

hilary - 13 Mar 2004 09:25 - 4741 of 23498

Forex, Old Socs. It's the GBP/USD cross ........ not for widows or orphans!

Socrates - 13 Mar 2004 09:31 - 4742 of 23498

That explains it Hilary, I confess I don't even understand the answer. My level is just about here:

How about some breakfast?

vasey - 13 Mar 2004 11:02 - 4743 of 23498

Is it too late for me to bag a nag? If not, please could I have 100 E/W on Hot Shots?

RogerD - 13 Mar 2004 11:48 - 4744 of 23498

Just recieved from a friend. Please pass it on:
Subject: Fw: Read ASAP

READ IMMEDIATELY AND PASS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW !

Someone is sending out a very cute screensaver of the Budweiser Frogs.

If you download it, you will lose everything! Your hard drive will crash and someone from the Internet will get your screen name and password!

DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

It just went into circulation yesterday.

Please distribute this message. This is a new, very malicious virus and not many people know about it. This information was announced yesterday morning from Microsoft.. Please share it with everyone that might access the Internet.

Once again, Pass This Along To EVERYONE in your address book so that this may be stopped. AOL has said that this is a very dangerous virus and that there is NO remedy for it at this time.

This is VERY important. If you receive a screen saver from a friend or anyone you may not know with the Budweiser Frogs in it, DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT OR OPEN THE FILE!

Press the forward button on your email program and send this notice to EVERYONE you know. Let's keep our email safe for everyone.

Well they do say don't believe everything you read but you can't be too carefull. As a principle you should never open any un-solicited files. Here is some information re. Budweiser:

jeffmack - 13 Mar 2004 12:38 - 4748 of 23498

Socs, you gonna pick a horse?

snoball - 13 Mar 2004 12:40 - 4749 of 23498

RogerD, it's a hoax.

GD, I want 100 on Beat the Heat to win & 100 on Saintsaire to win.

Socrates - 13 Mar 2004 12:44 - 4750 of 23498

Jeff
Since I know nothing about nags I'll take a guess. Ithnk there is one called Bold Bishop, is that OK? 100 EW (whatever that means).

optomistic - 13 Mar 2004 13:06 - 4751 of 23498

jeffmaack
You got me down as 100 win on Beat The Heat. I asked for 100 E/W.
I'm only guessing, would be happy to get in the 1st three

Golddog - 13 Mar 2004 16:23 - 4753 of 23498

That's great jeffmack, if you can do that and record everyone's bet like you did then i can just pick the winners out at the race result.

The Results.....
1st 24 Scorned (GER) 14-1
2nd 4 Bold Bishop (IRE) 8-1

Socks wins e/w bet on Bold Bishop winning 550.00

I will then put up a leaderboard of players funds. Game starts next Friday.
:-)

Socrates - 13 Mar 2004 16:28 - 4754 of 23498

Just had some bloke named Gordon Brown on the phone asking for tax on 500 quid, what's that all about?

jeffmack - 13 Mar 2004 16:36 - 4755 of 23498

Your on a roll Socs

Golddog - 13 Mar 2004 16:47 - 4756 of 23498

Unfortunately it was just a test and socks actually wins zero beano. :-)

jeff, If you post the list of horses and the links like you did and then all the punters bets then that will be brill. If you are not here to record the bets before your deadline then the race will have to be void incase players re-edit their posts to cheat! I leave the Game in your hands.
