Tanfield Group - any info out there? (TAN)

mr mike - 21 Jan 2004 13:49

Tanfield Group is the new company name of Comeleon. As I understand it, Comoleon was getting into trouble so TAN (paerent company?) took over. Since this has happened the share price has dropped by 0.25p each day for the last week or so (on average) and are now around the 3p mark with very little activity.

Does anyone know much about this company or previously held stock in Comeleon? There is virtually no info out there other than on the company website.

cheers

Mike

There's quite a big write up which I read in WHSmith. The broker who rated it a sell now says Hold and Shares agree, saying you should wait for the anticipated US expansion. The Chairman (I think) has a go at the broker along the lines of the RNS above.

heard in investors chronicle its tipped as a buy - is that true ?

Juzzle - 17 Jan 2008 15:56 - 478 of 1076

yes. IC has it as a BUY.

Four paragraphs, the final one being "It is little surprise that such an actively traded stock has fallen sharply as equity market sentiment has continued to deteriorate. This news should shore up confidence and, with Tanfield now trading on 13 times forecast earnings for this year, it remains a buy at 106p, well ahead of our original recommendation (Buy 55p, 5 January 2007)

"still going down.".. yep just like all the rest, well nearly all the rest bound to be a few slow coaches.

cynic - 23 Jan 2008 19:57 - 483 of 1076

sadly took a bath here, but still like the company .... have kept on my watchlist and expect to re-invest in due course

richardbees - 24 Jan 2008 10:45 - 484 of 1076

cynic

imho now's the time to re-invest in tan. I'm back in at 95p and don't think we'll see these prices again.

cynic - 24 Jan 2008 10:51 - 485 of 1076

i know the feeling well .... however, i am far from convinced we have seen the bottom of the pit, and am generally resisting the temptation to throw new mponey into the market ...... have a read of the FTSE thread

Landsbanki (the Iceland based brokerage bank) is about to commence coverage of Tanfield Group and will be publishing their guidance. Not sure which day that will come out but not long. Also expecting more fleet deal news within next couple of weeks. No guarantee that these two items will be enough to lift the share price, but will quite likely help underscore it.

almoore - 24 Jan 2008 16:30 - 487 of 1076

hopefully the shorters who have been attacking this share for quite a while will move on soon.

cynic - 24 Jan 2008 17:03 - 488 of 1076

i have come back on board too

richardbees - 24 Jan 2008 20:53 - 489 of 1076

Is this one going to drop to the next level in the event of a market sell off...
seems to be quite happy now at under the pound level, whereas last week that appeared oversold, can imagine it dropping to 80p level, hope not cos i have a few, although clearly they are producing the goods and the recent RNS stating they are ahead in the production stakes and the order book is full...

cynic - 30 Jan 2008 16:11 - 491 of 1076

no knowing .... but i bought back in at 99.75 and expect to hold

Fred1new - 30 Jan 2008 18:26 - 492 of 1076

If you have bought and hold I think that over a 2year period the company and SP will do well, but I think the SP will wobble and make you sweat a little.

I bought and sold and rebought, but wish I had waited to the price it is at the moment ie. I paid more than I needed to.

But it is a long term hold and the products I think have a fairly secure market even when the economy slows as one would expect.

Every time I'm tempted to buy more TAN, I resist as I feel the markets have even more to throw at us in the interim. Although anyone investing sub 100 in these turbulent times have made a wise choice.
