THURSDAY, 08 JUNE, 2006 *

* 9 Holes (4BBB 3/4 Stab.) Comp.
* Sandwiches/Lunch.
** 18 Holes (MAIN INDIVIDUAL (FULL HANDICAP) STABLEFORD EVENT) with M-AM and Golfing Prizes for Winners, incl. "Nearest-to-the-Pin" on the 9th. Hole and "The-Longest-Drive" on the 18th. Hole.
* 3-Course Evening Dinner (full waitress service), incl. coffee & mints + Prize Presentation/Mic. Table.

Just spent the best part of a week in North Berwick on a golf tour with 15 others. Spectacular Links Courses (Gullane 2 / Kilspindie / Dunbar / The West Course)accompanied by some horrendous winds. Also played Royal Musselborough (Parkland Course for some variation) and Seaton Carew on the way home. All of the courses were extremely challenging and in great condition. Dunbar (Open quailifying venue) and the West Course are an absolute must if you ever venture in that direction. Of interest, whilst we were atempting to play the West Course in gale force winds (for example: 3 wood, 3 wood and 5 wood into a 448 yd Par 4, all off the screws!) an EuroPro event was postponed just down the road, we naturally persevered!! :-) Great fun

Yes, Fliper, I have played Carden Park: the Nicklaus Course... and I have zero plans ever to play there again. You can expect a 5-hour round not helped by irritatingly long, drab walks in between tee blocks. Hugely over-rated, IMHO!

Thanks markus , I will take a good book with me ! . Played today at horsley with a guy from erewash . he had an unplayable ball , so he measured two club lengths, placed a tee into the ground and then measured another club length and put a tee into the ground . He then dropped between two and three club lengths . I told him that , he must drop within two club lengths . His reply was to shout at me " Its f---ing tw-ts like you that give golf a bad name " after that my game went off , my other playing partner backed me up 100% . Did I get the rule wrong ?

Fliper: I came up against a guy who had that interpretation and said a Pro had applied it at a Pro-am. You were quite right. There is general confusion between a free drop and a penalty drop with the former being one club from nearest point of relief which allows for the stance. Mind, if someone comes from 'earwash', he won't listen to a word you say!

No, Fliper, you were correct, of course. Thankfully such nutters are usually in the minority. But did you report him for threatening you in such a foul and abusive manner?

What was the threat? Just seemed like the kind of abuse you can see on the street (and television) every day. In fact I used to hear a lot worse than that in my office.

You'll hear it a lot in my office.
It's called the "Staff annual appraisal".

Markus, yes I did . He is also a member of Hollingwell in notts . He told me, he played badly in a comp on saturday and gave himself .1 back and adjusted his own handicap from 5.4 to 5.5 , so he played off 6 on sunday ????? rules for him and rules for others !

Fliper: He took the wrong reaction. He can't assume that his handicap was revised upwards. Correct action is to mark the card with the lower handicap; then higher handicap can be applied retrospectively but not vice versa. If he ahs claimed too high a handicap then he is disqualified. Get in there!

Fliper, any comeback on that nutter who threatened you recently?
When are we having our re-match? Any others from the M/AM Event interested in making up a 4BBB?

Hi All,
Just spoken to Bobcolby, and he is having problems with his internet connections at the moment, so he wanted me to let you know that if he doesn't reply to an E mail about the golf day (next years provisional one), its because of that.

Returned from The Wirral this afternoon after gracing The Open at Hoylake. Of the 9 holes we saw Tiger Woods play on Friday, he scored 4 birdies and an eagle. Truly different class to the rest of the field. Think I've finally learned what I've been doing wrong on my backswing after all these years having watching The Tiger! So expecting to get back down to single figures very soon? :o)
