THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

cynic - 15 Oct 2014 19:52 - 47714 of 81564

some of us were playing golf and in any case, rarely bother to respond to your incessant stream of blather

goldfinger - 15 Oct 2014 19:57 - 47715 of 81564

What in the dark.

goldfinger - 15 Oct 2014 20:00 - 47716 of 81564

Cynic can you explain where the missing 400,000 claimants have gone, at least have a try eg, was it an alien space ship, was it a hole that opened up in the ground etc etc.

cynic - 15 Oct 2014 20:01 - 47717 of 81564

i have no idea what you're talking about, and suspect i shan't much care either :-)

goldfinger - 15 Oct 2014 20:04 - 47718 of 81564

Cynic post 47694 and a few posts under that.

cynic - 15 Oct 2014 20:07 - 47719 of 81564

doodlebug4 - 15 Oct 2014 20:08 - 47720 of 81564

Fred, for once I agree with you! Of course Lord Freud should be sacked immediately, his comments were utterly appalling. Putting aside party politics , if Cameron doesn't sack him within the next 24 hours then he is an idiot.

goldfinger - 15 Oct 2014 20:13 - 47721 of 81564

Cynic, did you lose your golf match? youve spoken about it on many occasions before.

Anyway have a good trip to dubai and keep your mouth shut dont want you getting ebola.

Haystack - 15 Oct 2014 20:29 - 47722 of 81564

His comments were not really as advertised. He was asked about disabled people working and the minimum wage. He was prompted about not being worth the minimum wage. This is a reasonable query and answer.

The problem is that a disabled worker is not necessarily going to be as productive as a fully able person. I say not necessarily as some will and some won't. An employer may want to offer a person a job but cannot justify paying the minimum wage if the person takes say six times as long as an able bodied person. If the minimum wage is enforced then many disabled people will not get any job offers. I am very much in favour of the minimum wage, but there are situations where it is just not applicable if people want work. It is a straight choice for employers. If they have to pay minimum wage then they will take the most productive person for the money. Any other choice would be absurd. Why not run a company and choose the least productive staff and pay them as much as the most productive? That business should do well.

doodlebug4 - 15 Oct 2014 20:35 - 47723 of 81564

For once I don't agree with you Haystack! :-)

cynic - 15 Oct 2014 20:46 - 47724 of 81564

Haystack - 15 Oct 2014 21:05 - 47727 of 81564

Just a pleasure not being able to see the posts of Fred and goldfinger.

doodlebug4 - 15 Oct 2014 21:09 - 47728 of 81564

Interesting reference to Hitler, one of CR's little trolls referred to him by that name today.

MaxK - 15 Oct 2014 21:15 - 47729 of 81564

mmm.

You have to be carefull here.

Employment is not a social function, the object is to get a certain task done in a sensible manner.

Certain tasks simply cannot be done by people with disabilities (various)

Wheelchair dependant peeps are unlikely to make good road diggers etc.

On the other hand, blind people make excellent call center employees.

Horses for courses...the man is a pillock!

Fred1new - 15 Oct 2014 21:15 - 47730 of 81564
