Israel had a dawn raid on Gaza and is regarded to broken the ceasefire, so more rockets were fired into Israel today.

Irrespective of views over who is right or wrong over the military action on Gaza's bordrer, Israel is playing a dangerous game at present. Israel seems to be tending towards a full on conflict with Gaza similar to the one a couple of years ago. The Egyptian Foreign Minister has said he is angered over the attacks on Gaza. He called a number of other Arab Foreign Ministers yesterday and called an urgent meeting of other Arab diplomats last night. Five people were killed in Israeli air strikes yesterday including and old guy sitting with his family and children and about 30 were injured.

The Islamic Brotherhood group in Egypt has also got involved now and called on Arab and Muslim governments worldwide to stop Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip. Anything that gets the Muslim Brotherhood involved along religious lines is not a good thing. The Muslim Brotherhood wants money and arms to be given to Palestinians.

At noon yesterday several thousand demonstrators were outside the Israeli Embassy in Cairo calling for the expulsion of the ambassador and closing the embassy. Earlier demonstrators were burning Israeli flags in Tahrir Square. The demonstrators want the Rafah border crossing completely opened and want Palestine to be top of the list of Egyptian foreign priorities.

The Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa said it was decided that the United Nations Arab group would ask for a meeting of the UN Security Council aimed at stopping the Israeli aggression and enforcing a no-fly zone over Gaza.

The Arab League has also asked the UN, Security Council and the Quartet to shoulder responsibilities in stopping the ongoing attack and to help protect the unarmed Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinians fire rockets that usually hurt no one. The Israelis in response have killed 20 people in the last 4 days and injured around 50. Israel has killed 49 people in Gaza including 7 children since the beginning of the year. Israel's response is hardly measured or proportionate. Israel has used white phosphorus bombs in the last couple of days. White phosphorus is a weapon intended to provide a smokescreen for troop movements on the battlefield and is outlawed in dense civilian areas. Its use is regarded as a war crime.

on the other hand, i come to dubai 2/3/4 times a year and on those trips i often go to saudi and bahrain ..... and no, my time is not just spent with ex-pats but with business people at many levels

however, on this trip, there has certainly been much talk about libya, bahrain, egypt and saudi and to a limited extent about syria ...... but strangely not even the vaguest of allusions to israel or gaza ....... guess that means that no one much cares

Cairo and Ankara on Sunday declared their support for the Arab League's decision which called on the UN security council to impose a no-fly zone on the densely-populated Gaza Strip in order to prevent Israel from striking civilians.

Egyptian minister of foreign affairs Nabil Al-Arabi said the Arab demand for a no-fly zone over Gaza is a fair request and Egypt supports it.

Turkish foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu for his part said that Israel should stop its attacks and blockade on Gaza and the international community should do its best in this regard.

"If there is any Arab proposal in this regard, Turkey will support it," Davutoglu added.
