THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

you're wrong yet again ..... i am here on behalf of a company in which i no longer hold shares
thus you're totally wrong on that count and you also seem to have conveniently forgotten that we treat all our personnel who travel on behalf of the company in the same manner

you must really find it galling - or at least you should if your're honest - that certainly in this instance, your far left socialist views fall absolutely flat on their face ......

either that, or you promote the view that all employees should be treated like shit to enhance the company's tax liability!

Fred1new - 19 Oct 2014 20:07 - 48031 of 81564

Napoleon

I suggest you rethink or just try thinking will do.

That is if an old reactionary like you is still capable of doing so!

cynic - 19 Oct 2014 20:20 - 48032 of 81564

stop squirming my little bolshevik!

Da tovarich!

Avanti o popolo, alla riscossa
Bandiera rossa, bandiera rossa
Avanti o popolo, alla riscossa
Bandiera rossa trionferà.

Was frequently sung in the back bar of "Alex" when I was a student.

Almost better than La Marseillaise.

Almost as good as Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, the translation would be lost on Napoleon!

But I can remember 55 years ago.

Napoleon seems to have difficulty in remembering yesterday!

Repeat that to the nurse and doctor in Casualty when you next attend.

Or the ambulance man if you are involved in and accident.

Or to your "son" if he develops a long term illness needed prolonged nursing and medication.

Or is unemployed for a long period.

Or when you need treatment for imbibing to much.

Schools, some schools have been deteriorating for years and went downhill after the crazy reorganisation under Shirley Williams and the constant starvation of money under Thatcher, who demoralised the teachers with constant re-organisations.

This teachers, university staff and other "professionals" are moralised and P off with Cameron, cronies and would not trust Farage or them with a barrow.

I suggest you have another drink and go to bed!

========

Mind you could go back to the 1920s and 30s. You might be at home then!

MaxK - 19 Oct 2014 23:42 - 48037 of 81564

And your crew did nothing about it in three terms.

Three terms!

cynic - 20 Oct 2014 06:59 - 48038 of 81564

that's very unreasonable of you max for surely 3 terms = just 1 year :-)

kobani
airdrops are likely to anger key ally Turkey, which has said it would oppose the US helping to arm Kurdish rebels.

can someone explain to me how turkey can be a "key ally" if it strongly opposes these airdrops?

Haystack - 20 Oct 2014 08:56 - 48040 of 81564

Because it involves arming the Kurds and therefore the PKK. The PKK are an armed Kurdish group that have been committing bombings etc within Turkey to get independence. It is the same reason that Turkey won't support the Kurds on the Turkish/Syrian bordet. It would be like the UK arming the IRA to fight an enemy. We would expect the arms to be turned against us at some point.

Lynda Bellingham - RIP shame didn't make it to Xmas as she wished. Brave lady.

ExecLine - 20 Oct 2014 09:59 - 48042 of 81564

Lynda Bellingham certainly was a very brave lady and wanted to dramatically lower the grief her family would undoubtedly experience at her passing.

To this end and amongst other preparations, she made a special "Loose Women" show talking to her colleagues and friends about her forthcoming death. I think it will smash a few viewing records and airs this Wednesday at 12:30pm.

Another success impending!

doodlebug4 - 20 Oct 2014 10:46 - 48045 of 81564

She has also written her autobiography, which will no doubt go on sale soon. Clive James, who has terminal cancer was on the Andrew Marr show yesterday talking candidly about his impending death and reading his latest poem.

cynic - 20 Oct 2014 11:40 - 48046 of 81564

hays - that as may be, but in that case how can turkey be described as "a key ally"?

Haystack - 20 Oct 2014 11:46 - 48047 of 81564

We are a key ally to the US and neither partner would be pleased if arms were being supplied to an internal terror group. It is not the Kurds external to Turkey that are the problem. It is the PKK Kurds in the eastern part of Turkey across the bridge at Istanbul. The arms will find there way back into Turkey and that is why they won't supply arms to Kurds fighting across the Syrian border. It will just be a matter of time before the PKK use the arms to attack the Turkish government. I have Turkish friends who are very worried that the PKK will get large numbers of modern weapons.
