How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Lets say 5.45 same place as last time

Harlosh - 27 Sep 2005 19:38 - 4811 of 10502

Anyone on the footy tonight?

Scripophilist - 27 Sep 2005 19:45 - 4812 of 10502

I've had a nose but not sure what appeals. I'm not tempted to lump on Man U for sure!! Will probably wait till the second half.

I don't know if the wind is in my sails or not but having a good week on the horses. Had one loss today but none at all yesterday but similar overall results on the two days.

Yep. Man U game. But keeping an eye(s) on arsenal and barca

Harlosh - 27 Sep 2005 19:47 - 4814 of 10502

Very very impressive Scrip.

I lost my AB Pro when I had my PC repaired. Looks like it's time I invested in Bet Angel.

Evening John

Just about to green up :-)

Get in Freddie :-)

Will probably just watch for the rest of the evening

Harlosh - 27 Sep 2005 19:48 - 4816 of 10502

Me too sealed. Not happy with Man U at all but will watch the game for a while and see how they are performing.

Harlosh - 27 Sep 2005 19:51 - 4817 of 10502

Bloody hell. Was tempted to have a little wager on Arsenal.

Well done if you did Steve.

Harlosh - 27 Sep 2005 19:52 - 4818 of 10502

Small wager on Ajax to equalise.

Had a decent size lump on at 3.0, just turned a lovely emerald shade at 1.61 :-). Also, laid under 2.5 goals at 1.67 (both sides are naturally attacking despite recent records)

Scripophilist - 27 Sep 2005 19:55 - 4820 of 10502

You were braver than I then. I looked at the fixtures and just scratched my head.

Not familiar enough with Bayern Munich to make a judgement on that.

Did fancy laying Man U though!

Fundamentalist - 27 Sep 2005 19:55 - 4821 of 10502

Dont waste your money John :-)

That said, Arsenal look very short at 1.51 10 minutes in

Scrip

More blind faith having had a nice win on the poker tables lol. Also tempted to lay Man Utd. Will look to back either of Barca or Juve if they go behind or stay 0-0 long enough for the price to become more attractive

Harlosh - 27 Sep 2005 19:57 - 4823 of 10502

Not a lot of value out there so I'm going to wait til half time I think and look for a 0-0 then back the home team.

About the best idea I can come up with really.

Fundamentalist - 27 Sep 2005 19:58 - 4824 of 10502

Scrap one of those, Barca 1-0 up

Harlosh - 27 Sep 2005 19:59 - 4825 of 10502

Come on Udinese.

Fundamentalist - 27 Sep 2005 20:01 - 4826 of 10502

John

theyre a club in disarray - on a hiding at Barca tonight imo

Fundamentalist - 27 Sep 2005 20:02 - 4827 of 10502

Utd price drifted a fair bit - are they playing that badly?

Harlosh - 27 Sep 2005 20:02 - 4828 of 10502

A bit like Man U then?????

Fundamentalist - 27 Sep 2005 20:09 - 4829 of 10502
