THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

They are lucky it is a Westminster election and not a Holyrood poll coming next because the Nationalists – despite the fire in their belly and hope in their heart – will need big swings to win more than a clutch of new seats.

You thought Miliband had trouble with a bacon sandwich!

goldfinger - 21 Oct 2014 22:32 - 48181 of 81564

PMqs tomorrow Hays......... Balls will have a field day especially after the number of Tories had been whipped last week to say how their long term economic austerity policy was working.

There was a story a few days ago about UKIP losing EU funding because their grouping in Europe had fallen below the seven parties limit. Garage has found a solution. He has joined with a far right group whose leader is a holocaust denier.

He is a proper nutter.
Farage is all about 'just' business to get 25 MEP's from 7 countries to exist as EU parliamentary group..the quality of a kind of the business is all about just shows up..

MaxK - 21 Oct 2014 23:12 - 48185 of 81564

Liberal Democrats reveal their election promises in photo gaffe

Oct 22, 2014 08:00
By Jason Beattie

Their proposals were in a document photographed being carried by a key party aide leaving a meeting with Nick Clegg in Whitehall

The Lib Dems will fight the election promising benefit curbs on migrants, free childcare – and saving bees.

Their proposals were in a document photographed being carried by a key party aide leaving a meeting with Nick Clegg in Whitehall.

Ryan Coetzee’s paperwork set out four main commitments: balancing the budget, increasing tax thresholds, action on mental health and extra education spending.

More detailed policies included forcing Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants to undergo English tests, with those assessed as “poor” facing benefit cuts unless they agree to take lessons.

saving bees ...... surprisingly this is a very important issue, and i don't just mean for the airy-fairy brown-ricers either!

Fred1new - 22 Oct 2014 09:12 - 48190 of 81564

What is to be admired about Farage is that he decries the waste of money and expenses of the EU, but at the same time apparently wishes to dip his snout in the trough and grub around for as much as he can get.

I think it is like a lawman asking for a cut of the proceeds of a robbery.

Speaks a lot for the future of the kippers.

Mind hear there are backroom deals going on between the tories and the kippers.

The problem with kippers the smell in long lasting.

Mind the con party is reaching new lows.

How much is the propaganda costing them for the Rochester election when the don't have a candidate?

Is it £150,000.

If the Labs accidentally revealed their real plans it might contain:-

Imprisoning bankers and letting coal miners run the banks

Mansion tax on all owned houses except senior union members

Throw out the Queen and give her houses to President Miliband

Give away all powers to the EU.

Open door policy for immigration from all countries

All business nationalised right down to sweet shops

Bank accounts raided and all money taken

Every job is paid the same

All passports suspended and citizens not permitted to leave

Huge posters everywhere hailing the work of President Mikiband

Former Labour minister Frank Field hits out at Ed Miliband for being soft on immigration

A senior Labour MP has warned that the party is losing its working class supporters to Ukip because it is run by an out-of-touch “elite” that does not understand them.

Frank Field, the former Welfare Reform Minister, accused Ed Miliband of making the same mistake as Tony Blair by taking the party’s traditional voters for granted on the grounds that they had “nowhere else to go.” He said many of the 5m supporters Labour has lost since 1997 have now moved from being non-voting and “politically homeless” to backing Ukip.

In a strong criticism of Mr Miliband, Mr Field says: “A sizeable part of ex-Labour voters have been repelled by the policies promoted by a largely non-working class party elite with whom these ex-voters find it difficult to sympathise and vice-versa.”

Migrants fight in Calais for control of routes to Britain, say police

Hundreds living in camp with no water or sanitation, just a clear view of the road to the port and the lorries that offer an escape

By Claire Duffin, Calais

11:17PM BST 21 Oct 2014

Armed with a large stick, the young man picks up a rock, rushes forward and hurls it through the air.

Within seconds, four rocks come flying back. They smash into the ground inches from where he was standing: welcome to Calais, where pitched battles between rival gangs of migrants are becoming an almost daily occurrence.

The fight on Tuesday was between Eritreans and Ethiopians. One said it broke out after a man accused another of theft. More likely, police said, it was over who controlled the routes the ferry ports, where migrants routinely try to jump on to lorries bound for the UK.

Whatever the cause, the fight was fierce. At one point, 200 young men - many with their faces covered - squared up to each other at the side of a disused railway. Running towards each other holding sticks - and what looked like hospital crutches - they hurled rocks and shouted until police arrived and used tear gas to break them apart.

It was the second day running that the CRS officers - the French riot police - had been called to break up fights between rival groups of migrants as their numbers in the port town swell.

Calais has received a huge influx of migrants in the past six months, with hundreds of mainly Eritrean, Sudanese and Afghan migrants gathering to attempt the crossing to Britain.

Authorities estimate that more than 1,500 people are living rough in the woods or squatting in disused buildings in the city. However, some say the figure is closer to 2,500.
