THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

I think it is our Benefits System which is at fault. It is far too generous.

If freedom of movement is a right amongst all member states, then so must benefits rules and payments be identical too. Ours seem to be uniquely different and ridiculously generous.

What has Juncker got to say about that?

Fred1new - 22 Oct 2014 16:28 - 48228 of 81564

Exec,

I agree with you.

Starve them.

That will make them stronger and able to work till they drop on starvation wages.

That what I do with my garden.

Got rid of everything other than the weeds.

goldfinger - 22 Oct 2014 16:29 - 48229 of 81564

Too generous for people coming here, too skinny for those here who have to fall back on it say eg, illness, disability.

Cant quite see how people can send child benefit back home whilst working here or not working here. Im all for freedom of movement as long as its fair.

If my memory serves me correctly it was the Labour party that got this country into the human rights mess in the first place. Cameron has consistently opposed the Act and has been trying to have it amended for years - with opposition from both the Labour party and the Lib Dems.

Fred1new - 22 Oct 2014 16:38 - 48231 of 81564

Revision of Welfare payments to migrants and dependents who have been in the country for short time should be reviewed and probably modified.

But if you have a brain surgeon who has just entered the country and has a job but develops a medium term illness which will probably resolve itself within 3 months when he will "probably" be able to return to his post, do you refuse him bread and water on the state.

uuuummh.

Seems simple!

If a patient dementia examination to a doctor is £55 I wonder what initial assessment of the above's condition would.

Of course there routine follow up examination and the cost of treatment.

Simple!

Human rights, protects you when you pop over the border into other parts of Europe.

I am quite happy for others to give up those rights, but prefer to keep mine.

doodlebug4 - 22 Oct 2014 16:44 - 48233 of 81564

Human rights protect the thugs and terrorists from being deported out of this country.

Fred1new - 22 Oct 2014 16:48 - 48234 of 81564

DB4,

But I may mistakenly believe you are thug and treat you accordingly without consideration of what others consider to be your human rights.

You have to admit some may consider you a dodgy character!

doodlebug4 - 22 Oct 2014 16:57 - 48235 of 81564

Very funny Fred! I was a actually referring to convicted criminals who cannot be deported back to their own countries because of the Human Rights Act.

aldwickk - 22 Oct 2014 16:58 - 48236 of 81564

And the time and money it takes from the tax payer to find out if their human rights have been abused and the appeal process, for the likes of bombers and those who killed Lee Rigby.

50 years ago, I had a cousin who was put in prison.

His crime was committed when he sat in a cafe drinking a coffee, when the "leader" of that country was making a speech on the radio.

The crime was that he turn to somebody and said "somebody turn that old fool off".

He served 4 years. With restrictions after serving his sentence where he could practice for another 10 years.

He was a qualified doctor, and many thought him suitable for a research career.

======

If that country had been a signatory to the Human Rights charter, it probably would have be different.

=======

Tread carefully!

With some of the intrusive legislature this government has and wants to introduce and secret courts you may need the "Rights".

aldwickk - 22 Oct 2014 17:05 - 48238 of 81564

Edward Heath took us into the EEC.

And Margret Thatcher got us a rebate which Labour gave back. Thatcher would have got us out of the EU long ago before it got as bad as this.

Most of our non-EU immigrants come from countries where human rights don't exist... The fact that they have rights when they get here is why they are so problematic..

Where does religious belief end and human right start??? Its a very mixed up and inter-twangled mess that adds to problems...

Finally, I'm sure there are some of you here that will love what comes next..

PORK IN SCHOOL CANTEENS

A REAL MAYOR WHO REFUSES TO REMOVE PORK FROM THE SCHOOL CANTEENS EXPLAINS WHY

Muslim parents demanded the abolition of pork in all the school canteens of Ath in Belgium.

Marc Duvivier the mayor of Ath, has refused, and the town clerk sent a note to all parents to explain why.

"Muslims must understand that they have to adapt to Belgium, its customs, its traditions, its way of life, because that's where they chose to immigrate.

They must understand that they have to integrate and learn to live in Belgium.

They must understand that it is for them to change their lifestyle, not the Belgians who so generously welcomed them.

They must understand that the Athois are neither racist nor xenophobic, they accepted many immigrants before Muslims (whereas the reverse is not true that Muslims do not accept non-Muslim foreigners on their soil).

That no more than other nations, the Belgians are not willing to give up their identity, their culture.

And if Belgium is a land of welcome, it's not Marc Duvivier that welcomes foreigners, but the Belgian people as a whole.

Finally, they must understand that in Belgium with its Judeo-Christian roots, Christmas trees, churches and religious festivals, religion must remain in the private domain. The municipality of Ath was right to refuse any concessions to Islam and Sharia.

For Muslims that disagree with secularism and do not feel comfortable in Belgium, there are 57 beautiful Muslim countries in the world, most of them under-populated and ready to receive them with open halal arms in accordance with Shariah.

If you left your country for Belgium, and not for other Muslim countries, it is because you have considered that life is better in Belgium than elsewhere.

Ask yourself the question, just once, "Why is it better here in Belgium than where you come from?"

A canteen with pork is part of the answer.

doodlebug4 - 22 Oct 2014 17:08 - 48241 of 81564

I'm beginning to lose the will to live here! Fred, this current discussion is about immigrants to this country who have been been convicted of various crimes and cannot be deported back to their own countries because of the Human Rights Act.

doodlebug4 - 22 Oct 2014 17:14 - 48242 of 81564

Good post Shortie.

Shortie - 22 Oct 2014 17:20 - 48243 of 81564

The letter is actually an email hoaxed that went viral... How ever I think hoax or not it pretty much hits the nail on the head anyway....

Talking of nails as the old Chinese proverb goes "The nail that sticks out, is the one that gets hammered"... These immigrants would do well to remember this in our country and try to blend in a little harder..

aldwickk - 22 Oct 2014 17:20 - 48244 of 81564

What about Vegetarians and Vegans , the best solution would be is to provide a choice and/or allow them to bring their own meals in. Shortie .

Shortie - 22 Oct 2014 17:24 - 48245 of 81564

Course it would be aldwickk, but that isn't the muslim way. Most of the time they just want everything done their way... This is England, a country where if you don't like what's on the menu you have the right to refuse to eat the menu, but not bloody change it....

Shortie - 22 Oct 2014 17:29 - 48246 of 81564

Also worth noting in law;

The Church of England also has a law-making role in Britain. Twenty-six bishops (including the two Archbishops) sit in the House of Lords and are known as the Lords Spiritual. They are thought to bring a religious ethos to the secular process of law.

However, in an increasingly multi-cultural society, questions are being asked as to whether that role needs to be specifically fulfilled by Church of England Bishops. Future reform of the House of Lords could see the Lords Spiritual made up of a variety of Christian denominations and other faiths to reflect the religious make-up of Britain.

So keep an eye on Lords reform as you can guarantee a religious change will be put in on the quite..
