Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

free hit countersDesire Petroleum

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

FORMER ENTERPRISE BOSS IS ROCKHOPPER CHAIRMAN

IAN FORSYTH

09:00 - 19 January 2005
A New UK-based oil exploration and production company, Rockhopper Exploration, has named well-known industry figure Pierre Jungels as executive chairman.

He is non-executive chairman of Offshore Hydrocarbon Mapping of Aberdeen, and also holds non-executive roles at Woodside Petroleum, Offshore Logistics and Imperial Tobacco.

Rockhopper announced in December that the Falkland Islands government had awarded it two exploration/production licences in the North Falkland Basin, covering an area of 4,203sq km.

Richard Visick, executive director of Rockhopper, said: "We are delighted that Pierre has agreed to join the company. With his vast experience of the oil industry at the highest level in the UK and internationally, Pierre brings enormous expertise to Rockhopper. His appointment forms a key part of our plans as we put together a highly-experienced management team to take the company forward and progress our work programme for the licences."

Mr Jungels, a former chief executive of Enterprise Oil, added: "I am delighted to be working with Richard and the team at Rockhopper as we look to build the business over the next few years in what is an exciting, and largely undrilled, exploration region.

"We are actively considering our funding options as we pursue other opportunities in the area that will enable us to grow the business."

eddieshare - 20 Jan 2005 18:26 - 487 of 6492

Hi mingbeaver

I would say it was just a blip. If you look at all the main idices they are nearly all down. This could also be the lack of news causing invesment / trading to slow down. The main trend is still up. We always have some corrections when a stock shoots up, it's just when you know the close was higer a few days ago, you will automaticaly think (should have sold there). It has to be a personal choice, only you should decide what to do with your money. If you have made a large purchase recently you might want to protect yourself by selling to limit any loss. Selling stock is normal either at a profit or to cut your losses. If you have made a small purchase you will have to look at the cost of getting in & out of the trade, as this may wipe out some of your money. I have posted a 1 year chart this time, hope this helps you with your decision. What I must say is it's candles & moving averages we are looking at. (wish it were a crystal ball) These can only help us with our choice.

News will be here soon.

Like to see the 50 EMA which is sitting at 55p. 20 EMA which has provided support since the start of the rally in Nov looks to be failing, however would like to see a 2 day close below before comformation. SP could now test the 50 average.

HUSTLER - 20 Jan 2005 18:54 - 489 of 6492

no news and downturn in overall market today not supprising marked down, traded 1.25m at 50-50 split buy / sell

Hi Momentum / Hustler

The chart with EMA20 EMA50 EMA200. Shows the EMA50 at 0.55p, I don't think this is the way the main trend is going. But the market often re-visits support levels before moving on. 0.55p took a bit of going through as it was probably the last attempt to lift DES before it fell to its lowes. Not many stocks went up today, so I don't think DES was singled out as bad stock.

Any other thoughts ?

Hi Hustler

Yes I think so. Just going to Markymars chart (1 year) it looks like we might be getting a head & shoulders formation. If it is, we could see a good rise. Lets hope it is.

Rockhopper joins Falklands oil exploration.

In December, the issuing of two new licences for exploration and production by the Falkland Islands Government announced the arrival of a new player in the search for hydrocarbons in the South Atlantic.

This was Crude Oil and Gas Ltd., whose Chairman, Richard Visick, was already well-known to Falkland Islanders as the owner of the leading destination Sea Lion Lodge and also Weddell Island.
Questioned by MercoPress in Stanley on Tuesday evening, at the end of a two week visit to the Falklands with other members of his family, Mr. Visick, who is a solicitor, explained that though he had founded the company, which had since become Rockhopper Exploration Ltd. it had never been his intention to supervise its day-to-day operations and that there would shortly be an important announcement about its future management.

On Wednesday, London-based public relations firm, Aguila Financial who include a number of oil-related businesses among their clients, announced the appointment of Dr Pierre Jungels as executive chairman of Rockhopper Exploration Ltd. He will take up his role formally in February 2005.

Dr Jungels, who holds a PhD in geophysics & hydraulics from the California Institute of Technology, has over 30 years experience in the oil industry. He is currently chairman of Aim listed Offshore Hydrocarbon Mapping plc and also holds non-executive directorships at Woodside Petroleum Ltd, Offshore Logistics, Inc, and Imperial Tobacco plc.

Richard Visick, the current Executive Director of Rockhopper Exploration Ltd, is quoted in Aguila Financials release as saying, We are delighted that Pierre has agreed to join the company. With his vast experience of the oil industry at the highest level in the UK and internationally, Pierre brings enormous expertise to Rockhopper. His appointment forms a key part of our plans as we put together a highly experienced management team to take the company forward and progress our work programme for the licences.

For his part, Pierre Jungels is reported as saying that he was delighted to be working with Mr. Visick and the Rockhopper team and was looking forward to helping build the business in what was an exciting and largely undrilled exploration region. We are actively considering our funding options as we pursue other opportunities in the area that will enable us to grow the business he concluded.

Well found Markymar, thank you for sharing all your excellent finds with the rabble. Don't you love the phrase
"it had never been his intention to supervise its day-to-day operations and that there would shortly be an important announcement about its future management".
Shortly -hmmm, I think that might mean I have to upgrade the Valentines night venue.

mingbeaver, Hello, Relative newcomer to DES as an investor and consequently bow to yours/markymars& eddies knowledge of this stock, could you explain the apparent real confidence projected that Shell/Encana are hot favourites to become partner/s to DES in the near term. Apologies for covering, to most, old ground. Thanks & Rgds.

From Greenwich finals year ended

The Group continues to hold an interest in the issued share capital of Desire Petroleum plc which has extensive oil and gas interests off-shore the Falkland Islands.

Recently the value of the Desire investment has increased substantially following publication of the results of a 3-D seismic survey and reports on the progress of its search for a farm-in partner to fund a second round of drilling on new seismic targets.

assetgold - 23 Jan 2005 13:42 - 501 of 6492

just heard that desire are to raise 50million pounds by placing shares with institutions, i think the shares will be placed at .50p and drilling to start in August.

I told that the institutions are not allowed to sell the shares for a period of 1 year.

not sure if this is true or false,.,however the truth will be known next week as this is the so called news is to break..

in any event.. iam told a target price of 1.20 (copied from iii)
