Got a problem with a friends PC.

The Updata problem is about six NASDAQ .eod files that have bad sectors. I have renamed the folder and started again with a new download of files. These duff files refused to delete.
Chkdsk says the old files have problems. I am leaving the /f til our techie comes in as the system now works at its normal speed and if it ain't broke........ let someone else break it (!).
Re-naming the folder has quarantined them for the mo. I guess I should move it from within the Updata folder in case I need to do a re-install.
What is the Win2000 equiv of chkdsk? I thought I ought to run it on the whole disk. Chkdsk I ran from the cmd box on that little folder I'd called BAD.
However, whatever I do I'll back up the whole disk in case it is developing bad sectors.
Speaking of the 'Windows' key. Is it possible to disable it (or any key for that matter)?
I like to have a go at war-gaming (Black Hawk Down) and sometimes in the heat of battle (ladies - it's a man's thing!) I inadvertantly hit the Windows key, and the whole thing screws up, taking me back to desktop and dropping me out of the game.
Frustrated soldier.
